The book store is nice. We had a first birthday party here. The space was great. The kids had room to move around. The chalkboard wall was fun. The staff was helpful. Leading up to the party the contact person was very helpful and also responded in a very timely manner. We had 30ish people at our party. The price was right. And everything was good. I would recommend this location to anyone.

Delightful cultural mecca in the center of quintessentially quaint Madison, New Jersey. Sits on a Main Street corner facing the Museum of Trades on one side, and a row of delightful shops and restaurants on the other. The selection of books represents lots in the way of classic and contemporary themes, and there's a good section for kids. But that's not all; there are original paintings, photographs, and other pieces from local artists, and live music many evenings and weekend afternoons. If you are walking Main after a nice meal at the diner, then SS is a great stop on the journey. It's even well worth a drive downtown as a destination itself!

Independent bookstores have had a rough time of it since the rise of Amazon and the big chain bookstores but there are still a few great indie bookstores left and Short Stories is one of them. What makes this place different is that they fully embrace the idea that a book store can be a second home. They've got comfy couches and chairs for you to sit in and even a piano and guitar for you to play. But it isn't just about making it feel like home. Short Stories also has really great programming to keep you coming back - book signings from your favorite authors, play readings, singalongs, poetry readings, game nights, and more. And their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and they're book-lovers themselves, so they can help with great recommendations. This is hands-down my favorite indie bookstore in Jersey!
