Really cool little shop, love the aesthetics both of the store itself and of their clothing. Person working the front desk was very welcoming and friendly, check it out!
Brought in my teenager for his first quality skateboard. I wish I got the guy’s name - but the guy working today was genuinely welcoming and super reassuring when he sensed my kid’s hesitation to admit he didn’t know a ton. He was totally patient and kind and I appreciated it so much. I spent a little more than I planned on, but at the end of the day it was absolutely worth it with help we got. The board looks sick, the kid is stoked, and now I want a board for my self too - we’ll definitely be back.
Justin really cares about the local skate scene and has added a lot of value to it with Shrunkenhead skate shop. They care about supporting core companies and they have a wide selection of decks, shoes, clothing, and more. They additionally support local videos and zines which is invaluable to skateboarding and the Portland community.
Go here to spend your skateboarding dollars. There is no other place more worthy of your patronage. They have it all!: -decks -trucks -wheels -bearings -griptape -hardware That's everything you need to build a skateboard, in case you didn't know! They also have shoes and shirts and hats and other non-skateboard-component things that are pretty cool, too And vinyl records, for some reason... Seriously, though, Shrunken Head has been a strong force helping to bind the PDX skate scene together for a very long while. You support the local skateboarding community by supporting this awesome business. Now, go skate! But first, buy a skateboard from Shrunk!
I called this shop randomly. I was being a male Karen, but the guy on the phone, chilled me out. We ended up having a nice discussion about Bullet-Proof skateboards. He teaches a class in the community for skaters. Without even walking in, I would give them 5 stars based on the customer service and willingness to listen along with community work.
Staff here were super helpful in assisting me with my wheels and bearings. They also have a great selection of decks. They're being COVID safe by limiting people in the store and mask wearing. Highly recommend for your skating needs!
This shop is a great experience. I'm entry level to skateboarding and felt very taken care of when asking about boards, sizes, trucks, and bearings. The board was ready and assembled for me in 20 minutes. Seriously great place and definitely check them out!
EXCELLENT customer service! I’m very satisfied with my purchase and will happily come back again! I live on the coast and was tempted to purchase a skateboard online from Amazon for my 8 yr-old son. I decided that I’d rather support a local business—I’m glad I did! I know zero about skateboards and most likely would have purchased something that wasn’t suitable for my son, who is a beginner. I submitted questions via their Instagram account and received prompt answers. My son picked out his deck from their website where I purchased it and easily selected in-store pick up—all very convenient. Next day, I received expert and friendly service from the manager, Lorenzo, who customized the deck specifically for my son. He was very knowledgeable about the hardware and took the time to explain what would be best for my son’s board. He skillfully and quickly assembled the skateboard while I waited. You can’t get this custom service from Amazon—unparalleled. My son was THRILLED with his board!!!
Been here before, got some nice wheels for a pretty good price maybe 50 cents less than where I would usually go so that's cool but when I called and asked if they had any freestyle skateboards, the guy goes "I'm not sure what you mean by freestyle, like just a skateboard?" I said "No like a single-kick board, maybe some Mode or Waltz boards?" He says "I'm sorry I'm not really understanding what you're saying." And he's starting to get a bit of an attitude about it, like I didn't know what I was talking about and I just wanted a popsicle stick, so I said "Mode? Waltz? Like, the brands?" He goes "Ooooohhhh no we don't have those.".. Super weird interaction, I've never felt patronized while asking about skateboard but I guess there's a first time for everything. It was also weird because last time I went in the guy was super nice, and I think it's the same guy running the shop. Maybe he just had a bad day and I called too late, he was closing in an hour but idk. Very strange but the store's very nice.
Most helpful and knowledgeable when we took our 7 year old for her first board! This shop is where to go.
