This place is my go-to bakery in Chinatown! Ecare and Family Plus pharmacy gives reward points that can be redeemable from here, so my family and I go here all the time. We like to order their chestnut cake light, fluffy, and fresh, and their various cookies are pretty good too, especially the thin almond slice cookie.
This is by far my favorite Chinese bakery and reminds me of my visit to Hong Kong every time. Authentic and plenty of baked variety to choose from with a host to assist you with your selections. Their presentation is always kept tidy, good coffee is also served. There's a very small but comfortable area to sit and people watch. Worth a visit for locals and tourist alike.
Simply the best buns. The buns are soft and tasty!! Tried the milk tea which is like Hong Kong Style milk tea, sweet and string tea flavour. Makes me home sick. The buns and cakes are so beautiful and looks perfect! Mouth watering and irresistible! Oh, got to mention the cleanliness of the bakery, very tidy indeed.
We bought a fruit cake for my birthday, and we really like it The cream was very light, tasty biscuit and little melon pieces, so yummy! Also, personals are very polite and bakery really smells tasty like in the real bakery! Recommend you!!!
Best bakery! Best buns ever! They are really truly amazing and the price is great! Also the milk tea and the staff are friendly!!
I went into this bakery because it looked clean and smelled delicious. I bought several different items. There was only 1 cake, which I did not like. I did not completely understand what the women said,, but I thought chopped walnuts and cinnamon. The pastry had chopped bacon or pork with mayo on it. YUK. The lemon pastry was delicious. The pork buns were really good. The coconut buns were delicious. I tried about 6 or 7 other desserts. They were all delicious. The prices were between $2 to $5 per piece. It was not expensive. They also serve bubble tea and regular tea. The service was excellent. Very sweet. Cash only.
Baked goods and desserts here are pretty good quality and have a nice presentation. The bakery itself is modern and very clean looking, unlike some other places in Chinatown. Try the Portuguese egg tart; this is one of my favorites from this place. I have gone too late in the afternoon only to find that they have fun out, so try to go earlier. Their cakes look very carefully crafted; I'll have to try one soon!
Simply bakery is the plethora of Chinese bakeries opening up in Chinatown. One can’t walk a block without one. We wanted to try it out. It has the usual suspects of tarts, custards and coconut buns plus smoothies. They had mini green tea mooncakes I wanted to try out. The lit counters along the wall display countless choice of sweets. My Chinese friend noted that the translation was all off. We got what was labeled egg custard was really pineapple. The labeled sponge cake was actually marshmallow to our surprise. We wondered why the ‘cake’ was jiggling.
Walking in New York City will always grant you the possibility of finding great food ‘under the radar’. If you have had good Chinese desserts before, you will definitely enjoy Simple Bakery Inc: Everything there's is just delicious... I mean EVERYTHING!
Simply Bakery is a hidden gem of a bakery on Bayard St. Their Portuguese egg custard tart is simply out of this world and parallels the excellence of the tart at Taipan Bakery. It may not be as famous as as Taipan and Fay da, but the pastries at Simply Bakery are definitely as good or even better than the ones at the more well known chains. Highly recommend all the pastries here. Simply put, do not miss Simply Bakery.
