Was a member of this SNAP fitness for some time and overall was not very impressed. Stayed with the club for location, but over the years equipment broke down, the floor began to deteriorate, and things sometimes straight up disappeared from the space. Owner not very customer oriented. Overall same experience you'd expect at a $10/month big box gym, but instead you pay $45/month + $35/annual fee for a total average of around $48/month. There's 3 bikes total and 1 never worked for the entirety of my time there. Wrote several complaints about it, notified the owner a few times, and never even heard back. The floor has been breaking down for close to a year now, and there's a little "wet floor" sign over the spots plus a sign saying "we're working on it", but again, never saw that get any better or heard any updates about it. At one time there was a scale in the bathroom, but it disappeared, never heard about it again. Sometimes cables snapped on the weight machines and they'd simply get an "out of service" sign. I think once or twice I saw them come back into operation, but there were still broken ones when I left. At one time a bench was removed from the space which resulted in a LOT of needing to "work in" with other members and drag the bench across the room between sets. Made everyone's workouts longer. To be fair this eventually did get remedied and we got the 3rd bench back, but it took at least 3-4 weeks of a lot of folks submitting feedback to the owner. The response I got from the owner when I mentioned it personally was, "well it just looks cluttered when it's out there". So, aesthetics seemed more important to them than what the customers needed. Probably wouldn't recommend, overall. Good location, but too expensive for what you get in my honest opinion.
Lucas writes an accurate review. Furthermore, when requests are made for equipment to be cleaned or repaired, a volley of excuses is often launched. Band-aid fixes are offered with no real intent toward any meaningful maintenance. My own membership was recently terminated because my requests for basic cleaning and maintenance were considered as "toxic." The owner chose to spend her time reviewing camera footage to find the culprit as you are deemed, rather than clean the gym and refill the spray bottles. Be aware of the once-a-year maintenance fee as well. In my three or so years as a member, not once did I see any significant maintenance or upgrades of existing equipment; hence Lucas' spot on review.
The space was clean. The trainer on duty was friendly. There is a very high quality squat rack that also has pull up bars that are very high. This is great for tall people so that they can actually hang off of the ground. There is a functional fitness area as well as every machine you would need to bodybuild. I would not pay attention to the reviews that are older than a few months with very low ratings because it seems like new ownership and the management of this building is under good control. I'm of the opinion that the only five-star snap fitness in the area is the one in Bay View but this one in Wauwatosa makes the best use of the space that is available. Bring your water bottle since there is no drinking fountain however, there is a water dispenser. Don't plan on taking a shower as there is none but there are two large bathrooms.
Did everything I was supposed to do to cancel the membership. Gave my 30 days notice and over a month after was still charged for the membership again and I am very dissapointed with this matter.
Floors have been broken for a while now. Place is kinda stingy compared to other Snaps. Like no cups for the water dispenser and we can’t use paper towel to wipe down equipment. I do appreciate the free weights. Neighborhood is good for a jog outdoors
This specific location is great if you're not a gym rat and in general the same is true for other locations. This one in particular is not crowded most days of the week; After the building got cleared with the city to stay open 24 hours you can now go there whenever you want. The gym isn't as clean as it was when it first opened but it's certainly tolerable - I'm a clean freak too, so take that into consideration. I kind of wish the gym had more equipment, in particular more leg machines, a bench press, and a couple stair climbers. Just be prepared to get to know some of the regulars if you lift weights there :
Definitely price shop - online and in store deals vary and offer different things e.g., online was significantly cheaper but you have to wait for the card. I got very confused by the staff member in store who wasn't able to explain the process. Sounds like one of those companies where corporate and franchise don't communicate very well. They're really just out to make a buck, so they get very snippy when later because of a global pandemic you ask to cancel. "It's covid so we can freeze your membership as long as you need" turns into "when you ask to cancel we will charge you full price for that last month even though you can't use the facility" and quote their policy documents at length. I chose proximity over my gut feeling that it wasn't a customer-oriented environment, and I'm literally paying for it.
Clean, always open, equipment is in good shape. The gym is rarely busy at all and I don't have to wait for equipment to be free. The weights are always organized unlike at some "big" gyms that have customers that aren't as respectful.
It has a bit more equipment than the Brown Deer location. It also has a water station but make sure to bring your own water bottle in order to use it. The cardio machines have their own tvs attached. Free wifi for an hour. They allow guests but guests will have to sign in. Staff is super friendly and willing to answer any questions. Bathrooms are very spacious. This location does not have a separate studio for classes that I saw.
