Dr. Fishman use to be my doctor. I loved her and she knew me from when I was a toddler. However, she retired and I got stuck with Daniel Wemple. He has no bedside manner, was completely rude and dismissive towards my symptoms. He actually refused to give me a referral. After countless arguing, he finally gave in and handed it to me obviously very upset that I wouldn't take no for answer. He's a young doctor and might have a god complex, which is why he's so rude. After one visit I switched doctors, which was very disheartening because I had grown to know the staff there since my family had been coming here for decades. I don't recommend him to anyone, honestly look for a better doctor and I'm not the only one who feels this way!
I have had a great experience as a patient of this practice under Dr. Fishman and into the newer generation with Doctors Wemple & Hercule. My family and I have always been able to get an immediate appointment if we have an urgent issue, and the staff is helpful in booking follow-ups or referrals. Has the feel of a small-town family practice, and is also plugged into a network with Mt. Auburn Hospital and other providers for specialized care.
Find another doctor’s office. I have been going here for years and have never really been happy with my care but my latest experience with them has made me write this review. The only reason I am considering staying with Somerville Family Practice is because Rebecca actually listens to her patients and cares that they get the help they need. However, throughout the years i was constantly passed from different doctors, making it impossible to build a relationship or get consistent care. During my most recent experience, I messaged Rebecca asking her advice for a bad sunburn and was immediately told to come in by Nancy. Thinking that I would be able to speak with Rebecca directly and figuring I should listen to the doctor I went in. I met with Dr. Wemple for about five minutes and was given the same advice I could have looked up online. When I left they charged me $300 for my short visit where nothing was done. Nancy was also the one who responded to my inquiry about this bill and was extremely dismissive and rude, saying “sorry, that’s just our fee for our care.” Once again to be clear, there was almost zero care provided. If she cared about patients she would warn them that an urgent visit costs $300, but they just want to charge patients for whatever they can. She then so kindly told me to take it up with my insurance, knowing damn well that insurance companies also do not care about their customers. This is not the first time they’ve overcharged me, either. They tried to charge me for my covid vaccine, which is free to everyone. Their fees are an absolute scam.
Everyone here is great! Professional, kind, caring and helpful. Very happy with them
This office is the textbook definition of what you want in a Family Practice. I've been a patient here for the last 5 years. The office is always accommodating and provides availability for my inconsistent schedule. There is always available parking and the office has been on schedule each time I've been there. Since Dr. Martins retirement I've been seeing Dr. Dan Wemple as a PCP and could not be happier. He is attentive, personable, and compassionate. He follows up on all questions and any test results promptly and with a clarity that makes me feel comfortable with the care I'm receiving. The owner Nancy and the entire staff make you feel like family and provide a type of care that not all offices offer. They put in the extra effort to help you with insurance explanations, referrals, and any issues I've ever encountered while a patient. The blend of expertise, care, and service I receive at Somerville Family Practice is second to none and I plan to continue bringing my family there for a long time.
We've gone to this practice for decades, having raised two children here over the past 40 years and being demanding doctor "shoppers." They are friendly and competent. We have been seeing Maggie for years and know that we are in experienced, caring hands. Very strong recommendation.
I would like to post this review because if you choose this practice you should be worried about your health. I’ll start with staff and management. Lady named Nancy who is a manager, I have never met person that is rude like that, anything they tell you they will do-they don’t , they are very shady how they run their practice. They lie, tell you different thing billing wise, and you have impression everybody have a very poor customer service. Now most important part - doctor. I was a patient of Dr. Daniel Wemple. He is a very young and nice doctor, very polite but regarding his actual job he is the worst doctor you can have. All he does is listens and typing nonsense notes in his computer. He couldn’t set a diagnose for me for 6 months and took me and my health in completely wrong direction. Very poor medical knowledge, always dismissive and always indeterminate. I’m posting this not because of this practice or to give them a bad review, but because every person should received proper, professional and knowledgable medical care which you will not get with this people. You will only put your health in danger. I hope this review will help somebody to chose better practice to take care of their health and stay away from this place.
I would give 0 stars if I could. We brought our newborn here and Dr. Wemple had horrible bedside manner from the moment we met him. Then, at our 8 week appointment, my wife brought our son in who had just gotten sick and was terribly congested with a bad cough. Dr. Wemple completely brushed this off and only wanted to talk about vaccines the entire time, and my wife and I told him we wanted to wait a bit longer — especially because our son was sick that day AND because we wanted more education. All the Dr. did was guilt trip my wife, provided no education besides saying “if you’re this worried about the common cold, you should see what the other diseases could do.” My wife kept saying “this is not a no forever, it’s just a no today until we can feel more confident about our decision.” He was incredibly rude to her, kept guilt tripping her, dismissed my sons sickness altogether, and ended the visit saying “if you don’t trust my medical expertise, maybe you should find another doctor.” And that is exactly what we are going to do.
I saw the NP Anna and she was amazing!! I was being seen for a GI issue and she made me feel so comfortable. She listen to everything I had to say and told me that she would "work with me to resolve the issue". I thought that was really nice "work with me", that is the exact thing I want to hear from my PCP. As a patient I want to feel like I'm a part in my healthcare plan. I don't want to see someone that will just tell me what to do. I would like my PCP to discuss possibilities and we decide together what the best plan of action is. That is exactly what I got with Anna. In my opinion smaller private practices are the way to go when it comes to picking a primary care!!!!!!!
Dr. Leora Fishman has been my Husband and my Physician for over 30 years. We could not have asked for a more caring and through Physician. The office staff knows your name, when you arrive they are always friendly and professional.
