Story

In 1969, the owner of Sorrento Pizza, Giovanni Coppola, could not have imagined that he had created a legendary pizza that would be loved for over 40 years. From the secret pizza sauce recipe know only to a few, to the commitment of keeping 100% real cheese on his pizzas, to the old world small pepperoni, which many abandon in order to make more profit. Whether you swing through the drive-thru for a slice or order a whole 16inch pie, you are reminded that the best things in life never change! A simple request 38 years ago has turned into a Sorrento tradition. Every Halloween, the young and old line up at Sorrentos to trick-or-treat and receive a free slice of pizza! Just another example of a Warren business thanking its community for allowing them to keep serving the best pizza around. So if you have ever wondered what real pizza should taste like, a visit to the original Sorrento Pizza will leave you wanting more!

I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, but every single time I'm in Detroit, I take the trip over to 9 Mile to visit this truly precious gem of a restaurant. On my last trip, we ate a lot of pizza: Buddy's, Jet's, and Sorrento's. Of the 3, Sorrento's was far and away the best. The pepperoni are crispy, small, and cupped with grease, sitting on top the coast to coast cheese. The sauce is fairly sweeter than Buddy's or Jet's, but in a way that brings the entire dish together. The crust is perfectly crispy on the edges, yet spongy underneath. This is the real deal. You're able to order slices, but go ahead and just order a pizza as a medium cost us like $11 - a true bargain for the quality and compared with Buddy's, the same size cost apx. $22. God I love this place. Best pizza on earth.
We use them for our committee meetings at uaw 412. Pizza is really good.Food: 5/5
I went here for the first time yesterday. I believe this is the best pizza I've had in a very long time. This pizza is beyond delicious. Generous toppings, delicious cheese, and the crust is perfect crispy- chewy combination I've not encountered anywhere else in the Detroit area. Prices are more than reasonable, best bargain in town.I will be back and this is definitely my new go to pizza place.
haven't had Sorrento in over a decade, ordered a pie last night andnits only gotten better with time! I ordered a 16" XL Pan pizza with sausage and mushrooms and it was one of the best pan pizzas I've ever had. I can't wait to work this one off so I can get another one!
They have attention to detail, delivery was bomb, the foods good, prices are affordable and my house is happy and full. Oh the staff's cool too. I grew up around here, my significant other didn't, so this is a new spot to him. He wanted me to make sure I left a good review, because the service was really good. Thanks guys for being apart of my lazy evening haha!
Same great taste for the last 30 years... eating a fresh slice of pizza piping hot or eating it later cold, the pizza with the greasy spicy pepperoni brings back those nostalgic feelings. Definitely worth going out of your way for great pizza. This last visit the pizza made it to Belle Isle and back home for leftovers!
The cheese is amazing! It is far better than the cheese at any other pizza place. I've had a few things from here and have not been disappointed. Customer service is great!
Based on the reviews I had read I decided to try the pizza here. Was not as good as the reviews. Pizza was very dry with not enough sauce to taste. Toppings were adequate but cheese does fill the pizza as stated in some of the reviews. So I at least ate the toppings for my dinner.
I used to love going to this place, I used to love how they made their pizza. The past couple orders that I got from Sorrento's Pizza over on 9 Mile around Van Dyke have been off. I'm a guy that doesn't like chewy or doughy bread and for the longest time serranos bread was nice and crispy until as of late. I don't know what they're doing differently but they need to step their game up if they're going to charge $20 for a large pizza
The best ribs hands down!! Best pizza bread as well.awesome food, awesome prices. Great service and employees. Thank you sorrentos.
