Southpark Swim and Tennis Club

About

SPSTC is a family-friendly swim and tennis club in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, NC.

Story

The relaxing, friendly environment of SouthPark Swim & Tennis Club is the perfect get-away, whether you are interested in the excitement of swim meets, the challenge of a tennis match, or relaxation by the pool with family and friends.

The club was founded in 1967 as a member-owned outdoor recreation club in the Huntingtowne Farms neighborhood of Charlotte, N.C.

Members reside in many neighborhoods in south Charlotte, such as Beverly Woods, Dilworth, Spring Valley, Montclaire, Quail Hollow Estates and, of course, Huntingtowne Farms. To reflect the geographical diversity of its membership, the club's name was changed in 2006 from Huntingtowne Farms Swim & Racquet Club.

The club's facilities are best known for the large Junior Olympic-size pool, six tennis courts, and spacious playground. The club offers swim lessons, tennis lessons and clinics, summer camps, a volleyball court, horseshoe pit and numerous parties and social events throughout the year.

Recent upgrades to the pool deck and liner, bathhouses and snack bar, as well as its location along Little Sugar Creek Greenway make SouthPark STC one of the cleanest, most beautiful recreational facilities of its kind.

Can’t say enough about this pool!! It has the perfect amount of “frills” without being a country club. Diving board, fenced in playground, water slide, zero entry baby pool with fountain and snack bar with grill. The members have become like a summer time family. Our kids love being on the swim team and attending the tennis camp. Our summers wouldn’t be the same without SPSTC.
We love this pool! Great for all ages and so much fun! Hammerhead grill has great food as well as the entire pool has a fun relaxing atmosphere. We are so happy we joined a few years ago!
What a nice place to relax! I love it here. My favorite part is washing the kids in the outdoor solar shower after a day at the pool and playgroup. So convenient!
What a fun pool! Kids and adults alike enjoy the slide, someone is always jumping off the diving board into the deep end, and the kid's pool is wonderful!
Flew in from South Jersey to visit family and spent some time at this amazing pool club! WOW!!! What an example of true southern hospitality!! What a friendly bunch!
Top-notch pool? Yup. Championship swim team? Yup. Beach volleyball? Yup. Waterslide? Yup. Lit tennis courts? Yup. Best snackbar in Charlotte? Yup. Olympic diving board? Yup. Awesome member community? Yup.
Our family absolutely loves SPSTC! Such a great club, very clean and well taken care of but nothing fancy or expensive. Great swim team, tennis courts and community of members!
Great pool. So few pools these days still have diving boards. This one has a diving board, slide, lap lanes, and easy access to other amenities such as tennis courts and a basket ball hoop. Most pools in Charlotte feel very transient. This one has a local and very family oriented feel.
From the outside, this place looks like a decent, small neighborhood pool/tennis club. I'll never know, though, due to the horrendously rude treatment I received from the VP of Membership & Parties when I emailed to ask for details on membership. Back story: Several months ago, I called the phone number listed on the club's website and left a detailed voicemail message, and asked for a call back. After not hearing back from them, I emailed them this message: "I'm interested in a tennis membership. Can you please let me know how to proceed? I called several months ago and left a voicemail message but I never got a call back. Thank you!" The response and I'm not making this up, I promise you - no salutation, just this: "Where did you call? We don't have an office/phone so not sure what your referring to." Side note: yes, they responded with "your" not "you're". I emailed back: "Do you have a supervisor." Her response: "We are all volunteers, so no. Tennis memberships are currently $250/year plus $75 for each additional family member on the tennis membership." That was it. The end. No "How can we help you?", or "Here's my number, please feel free to call me for additional details, we'd love to talk with you about your membership." AND, furthermore, there IS a phone number on their website, listed clearly on the "Contact Us" page. That's the number I called. If no one checks that number, don't publish the number. Unbelievable. Do people like this woman who answered me realize that we're actually PAYING THEM for their services?? So I guess I'll just be reviewing this club, not on the actual facility, but on their rude and sloppy treatment of potential members - because I don't believe in patronizing ANY PLACE that doesn't value and respect their customers. But I do believe in calling out people on rudeness and disrespect. I suppose I'll write this experience off as just another example of a lack of that elusive thing called "Southern hospitality" I keep hearing about. SMH.
Friendly, inviting, safe and fun! Best club in Charlotte!
