The boat yard has been locked up, and no boat owners have access to their boats for over two weeks in May of 2021. The owner/operator rarely answers or returns phone calls and texts. When I was last there, the place is filled with large marine barge-type boxes, blocking access to any boat launches. I cannot tell when ... or if ... any owners will get access to their boats, much less the ability to launch.
I stored my boat here for many years because the rate per square foot was the lowest in town. I always performed my own work on the boat which they allowed me to do without question. I even swapped in a new engine in the yard using my own crew. But remember you get what you pay for, so don't expect a lot in service other that haul-out, bottom wash, jack-stand rental, and spring launch.
We had faith in them in the past, years going by, we saw a decline in service and dependability. After seeing our sailboat run astray as they were moving it to launch, it became disconnect from the tow ball and my husband thankfully was there and chucked a large piece of wood under a tire. The boat was just about to run into a wall of fencing and concrete!! Secondly, when we traded a boat in they asked who we had do the winterizing as it looked like it HAD NEVER BEEN DONE! Several years we relied on and trusted Southwind. Never again.
Negligence, Incompetence, Fraud. Southwind Marina once stored my boat. Southwind damaged my boat and denied the responsibility. Southwind Marinas service was unprofessional, tardy and sloppy to be kind. Southwind's owner Brian Read retaliated when I expressed my disappointment. This marina is not what they suggest on their web site.
Worst experience of my life. They held my boat hostage until I paid they quoted 150$. They charged me over 1200$. AND THE DROPPED MY BOAT RUINING LOWER UNIT DO NOT HAVE THEM DO WORK. Check the web there are more people like me out there with the same thing happening
We did NOT have a good experience working at Southwind. Their clients had a bad experience with the owner also our client and then we had the misfortune of experiencing the owner ourselves. Such a shame. Not nice people in a junky yard.
I believe this is the same marina owned by Jimmy, he just changed the name to BayView. We put $1000 down on a boat he was selling, now he is nowhere to be found. He’s a scammer
OMG This place is a total nightmare! Make sure that you ask questions before you leave your boat with these guys.. They are always understaffed and they will always give you BS excuses. They make their money off of lumber and just happen to have a marina business on the side...You are better off somewhere that is just a marina to get quality service...
NOT a place I would ever do business with again. They extorted me and many people I know. When there are plentiful options, why risk it here? They advertise a ton and are always cheapest....you know why a company has to be the cheapest.
Under new management that is working to clean up the space. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Affordable storage fees.
