Absolute trash.. The best part of the cruise is when we docked and GTF off.. the food was ok but the drinks were watered down and they have the nerve to charge $18 for them.. We paid $125 pp just to go to a buffet that didn't even include non-alcoholic beverages.. One of our party guest noticed a pair of serving tongs were on the floor and the staff member picked it up and place it on the buffet.. One of the staff member had dreads which was hanging and fell into the mashed potatoes when he placed the tray on the buffet. Some of the staff members seemed to absolutely hate their jobs.. Overall I would never go again even if it was free..
The captain knows how to move the ship. Very smooth sail. The boat is quite large and bathrooms are clean. The waitress staff seems partially new. They were confused about who the orders went to. Language was also an issue; it did not seem like some workers spoke more than a few words. The timing of the appetizers, main meal seemed delayed. My entire table got their main course, somehow I waited 15 minutes. The tour would probably have been awesome if it didn't depart at 7. It was dark relatively quickly in Sept.
Recently attended an award ceremony on board. The trip was smooth and comfortable. The boat is spacious, crew professional and atmosphere luxurious.
Awesome sauce. The atmosphere was nice. Food was great. Our server Maurice was wonderful.
My family and I scheduled a round trip cruise to Mount Vernon for 7/4/22 onboard the Spirit of Mount Vernon. The trip was advertised to include a guided tour down the Potomac. Looking at pictures online, the Spirit of Mount Vernon is a deluxe ship with lots of indoor seating and amenities. The Spirit of Mount Vernon ship was replaced with a water taxi. I was extremely disappointed in the cruise. The water taxi was in no shape or form a suitable substitute for the Spirit of Mount Vernon. We had no choice but to ride on the top deck in full sun both ways. There was no guided tour. The rest rooms did not work on the return voyage. I can only assume that it did not have sufficient storage for the limited available concessions as we had to stop in Alexandria to "restock" and let people use the rest room. This was extremely frustrating delay as I sat in the full sun after a long day. I would have driven to Mt Vernon and saved money, time and had the freedom to leave when we were ready if I knew this was what the cruise was going to be. Instead of a lovely, fun way to get to Mount Vernon, it was miserable and not at all what was advertised.
Had the best time. Just didn't like my settings arrangement and the server was extremely slow and inexperienced
Wonderful! I worked an exclusive event on this boat and it was great! Everything was top notch on the boat. The check in process could have been a tad bit smoother, but this was the first time we had the event on this boat and I'm sure it will be better in the future.
If going on a well-run and well-organized day cruise of the Potomac is up your alley, there's no better place than this to do it. They have a number of differing cruises, and that different days and different times of the day. Most of them come with a full meal and the food is terrific. I've been on three of their cruises. I can highly recommend this place without reservation. Two thumbs up.
Took over an hour to have our table released to get food while others were getting seconds. Food was barely edible. Humidity inside was at 100%. The music was awful and you couldn't hear anything. We didn't leave port because of winds that didn't exist. There was also multiple health code violations including including dirty plates and cross contamination. Feels like a waste of my time and money. Edit: After posting the first time, someone passed out in the dancefloor mosh pit that DJ Rob promoted.
We went here with our school on our Senior DC trip. The staff, specifically the DJ, was rude to us from the moment we got on the boat. We followed the rules that they set for us, which we understood were for our safety, but were still treated very poorly. We are 18 but were treated as middle schoolers. The DJ would stop the music in the middle of the song and yell at us for being “disrespectful” when we continued to sing. She would also would not allow song requests and was rude when we asked for songs to be played. We were forced to sit down in our seats alone for singing the cuss words in a song, even though we are all legal adults and our chaperones did not care if we cussed.
