About

Farm to table, Italian-inspired restaurant.

Story

Located in the bustling and charming Highlands our Italian-inspired menu features fresh, seasonal ingredients from local farms with touches that come from their roots, food philosophies, travels and experiences.

"Global Mind, Local Body, Italian Soul.Spuntino is an intimate, Italian inspired restaurant nestled into the heart of the historic Potter Highland neighborhood, owned and run by a wife and husband, chef and manager team along with their small, dedicated staff. We are obsessed with what we do and dedicate ourselves to sharing our passion for wonderful food, drink, and service with our lovely guests. We are inspired by our travels, our diverse culinary experience, our wonderful purveyors, by the seasons, and by the wonderful guests we have a pleasure to serve. We are a from-scratch kitchen, making everything we are reasonably able to in house, including breads, cheeses, pastas, gelati, a wide range of digestivi and amari, and more."

The Italian cuisine was a very different spin. Beautiful presentation and incredibly knowledgeable waiter. The food was not to our liking. We started off with a pomegranate and lime drink that had wonderful floral notes and flavor. Then tried the appetizer special with prawns that had an overwhelming Indian spice to it that made both my husband and I only eat the shrimp. I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo that was the special of the evening and was very disappointed, due to flavor and spice. My husband's dish was very different than he anticipated as well. We thought the restaurant was nice, staff very knowledgeable and accommodating, but the food was not what we anticipated therefore we are rating at 3 stars.
If you like Italian food, Spontino is a wonderful experience! They prepare pasta in-house, and have a solid menu with an awesome presentation! The bar is well stocked, and the house lemoncello was smooth and award worthy! The food was rich, seasoned well, and delicious. The wait staff was friendly, helpful, and really knew the menu. A great experience. One note - I found myself looking at the foods on other tables - keeping myself from drooling with food envy.
We went here to celebrate our anniversary the other night. I couldn’t believe I’ve never been before! Refined new Italian food focusing on fresh seasonal ingredients. Despite the current economic conditions, the portions were still generous. The service was helpful and attentive as well. I like that you can reserve online specifically for the patio, for those who are still wary of dining inside. They have a little window to the patio where the kitchen can set the food, so no worries about your food languishing inside before it’s brought out. We had the Verdura seasonal vegetable platter and Burrata salad to die for! to start and were very impressed with these. My husband had the Maiale pork dish and I had the Pasta del giorno Fettuccine with squid ink calamari in San marzano broth. For dessert, we got a gelato trio with olive oil, Thai tea and Oreo flavors. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. We look forward to returning!
My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary at Spuntino! The main course was great and the desserts were AMAZING. Let me tell you, I've been thinking about the dessert since we went. Also, I realized halfway through my vegetarian meal that it was, in fact, vegan! That's cool! If I'm in Denver again, I will definitely try to eat here again.
This was a standout restaurant. Service was attentive if a bit slow, but the quality of the food and experience more than made up for this. Extremely inventive, flavorful dishes and knowledgeable server. Loves the daily specials and the verdure.
In what's becoming a tradition in my yearly trips to Denver, Spuntino is a highlight of the many places I've dined. As I've said before, the food is as fresh as can be, with unique offerings that change by the season. My beloved Capellini Agloo is no longer on the menu, but in its place are a dozen other wonderful dishes that stack up against some of the best you've had. The new spin on arancini is wonderful, packed with fontina cheese and perfectly crispy with just a light fry. The burrata was equally delicious, paired with peaches and candied pistachios. The most memorable dish of the evening was the malai kofka gnocchi, seared dumplings served atop Indian-spiced tomato sauce, toasted cashews, and cilantro. This was out of this world, a wonderfully fusion of Italian and Indian that has put, and kept, Spuntino on the map. I can't wait to be back next year to see what else they've cooked up!
Hands-down the best COVID dining experience I’ve had! Incredible but simple food made from scratch, delicious wine options, a lovely heated tent, and the friendliest service. We partook in a date night special on a Sunday, which ended up being the best deal and just put the cherry on top of an already perfect evening out.
I love Spuntino. Everything is always delicious and so thoughtfully made and put together. Seasonal menu which I love and appreciate, and daily pasta specials. Everyone who works here is awesome - they are helpful in recs for food, wine pairing, or anything you could ask. They seem genuinely happy to be there, working together, and serving you in a way that is special and lovely. Beautifully incorporate different food genres and tastes in creative ways. XX, Spuntino
Indian inspired Italian in a subtle neighborhood location. Menu is a mix of non-traditional Italian fare, from pasta stuffed with local peaches to lasagna in a curried red sauce. Wine list is varied, with a few relatively inexpensive small run Italian wines as well as a few more expensive options. Dessert menu has house made gelato in assorted flavors including olive oil, house made limoncello/basilcello/fennelcello, and a solid selection of aperitifs and a few amaro. Solid service from start to finish. Make reservations. You will need them
Such a unique place with AMAZING dishes. Bold flavors that work perfectly together. The service was some of the best we’ve had in a while. The chef even brought our dishes to us. We were celebrating our anniversary, so our server gave us some to-go chocolate truffles. Recommend this place to anyone wanting to have an intimate and memorable dinning experience!
