I lived at The Stafford for about a year. The location is great, especially if you work near Mt. Vernon. Keep in mind this is an old building, so it has some quirks. At first there were many issues with the elevators and facilities. However, once Christine, the property manager, and Jon, the facilities manager took over, things really turned around. Everything became much cleaner and a number of renovations were done. Anytime I had a concern or maintenance request I received a prompt response. In some ways, the management can really make or break your living experience. I would definitely recommend checking out The Stafford if you're looking for an apartment in the area.
DIRTY. NASTY. MESSY. OUTDATED. DO NOT move to this place. The apartments are extremely small and the condition is completely unacceptable for the price and given the area. Water stains in bathtubs and sinks from years and years of neglect. Mold on the bathroom walls. Cheap, dirty, and lackluster carpet. Horrible paint jobs and repairs that a teenager could have did better. Felt dirty from the moment I stepped into this place. This is an old building but it is no excuse to not be sanitary and not have a place "feel good." On top of this the call box to get in does not work and hasn't worked. The one star is only for the neighborhood. Update to the reply from "the owner" I already stayed there, so your weak response about credit doesn’t mesh. Additionally, given the area you have to know that people that are and do apply to the property most likely qualify. I'm sure you had nothing else to say because the statements I made are in fact true. How about commenting about a renovation that was completed, a new feature added, monthly services including but not limited to pest control and mold treatments to upkeep the property, and/or coming improvements. BUT you didn't because you know very well the condition of the apartments is horrible. It might as well be on North Avenue.
I’ve been living at the Stafford since August ‘21. I’m Giving 5 stars for Christine the property Manager. Definitely does her best to make sure the tenants are comfortable and happy while the Stafford is in the transition and renovation process. It’s an older building but they’re in process of making everything up to date and Christine is really good at communicating if a repair is being done to the building and utilities have to be interrupted for a short time. Recently needed to put in a maintenance request for a minor repair, Christine communicated with me and made sure the repair was completed efficiently.
We have only the highest praise for Christine Grabowski of the Stafford . She was always helpful and immediately responsive to any questions or concerns. If we faced a problem, she extended herself to help us solve it and often arrived at creative solutions. In all of her actions, she conveyed that she cared for the tenants as well as for the property, and this caring helps to build a community.
I’ve lived at the Stafford apartments for 3 months. The apartment is located in a cute little area with lots of restaurants in Mount Vernon. My apartment is small but it’s enough room for me! Utilities are included with your rent. They also have a gym, music room, common area and laundry mat downstairs. It’s walking distance from the harbor, and public transportation. Cons: The elevators breaks pretty often. It’s definitely a concern if you are disabled or have to carry anything heavy. You don’t have any control over the heating and AC. Hot water gets extremely hot. Parking is also hit or miss!! I gave Stafford Apartment 3/5 because the elevator not working is a big deal. If I hurt myself or my daughter trying to carry a heavy stroller upstairs, it’s going to a problem.
I lived here for two years. The first year I had no issues, but the second year I had two pipe bursts, and there were elevator issues that others mentioned. Both pipes were fixed within 24 hours. The location is great, the view on the upper apartments is awesome, and i have not had a bad interaction with staff. The apartments are very small, but reasonably priced for the size and location. Never had an issue with bugs or rodents even though it is an old building. The walls are pretty thick I don't think I ever heard my neighbors. The exercise and music rooms are a bit underwhelming, but that didn't really matter to me. I don't recall having a hot water issue more than once or twice. My biggest con of the building was that the upper floors got REALLY hot on warmer days in winter months. You can not toggle between AC and heating. Once the heat is on, it is on.
Where do I begin? My first month at the Stafford has been awesome! I recently relocated to Baltimore as a chef and I needed somewhere local to my job. The Stafford has been nothing but perfect for myself. The elevator had some issues when I moved in and was slightly discouraging but they did a great job in assisting me and being patient with my move in. Special thank you to Christan, the property manager. Anytime I have the slightest issue, he is quick to help. This has been awesome, I’m actually thinking of moving to a two bedroom when my lease ends!
Recently, The Stafford have underwent some major changes. Though they have done a number of renovations throughout the last six to seven months the best change thus far has been the management. There is a whole new staff here who seems to really care about the customer. Its an older building, so issues happen BUT when they do; Christan & Paula seem to really be on top of things. I wouldn’t have recommended The Stafford at first but they make me feel right at home now.
I moved into the Stafford about three months ago. Though there were some elevator issues, they were able to resolve it a timely manner. Views are wonderful, and if your a John Hopkins student like myself; the all inclusive utilities and location are great! Christian is awesome too!
This is an amazing luxurious apartment building. I am always impressed with the professionalism of the staff . Whenever I need something, the staff has always been readily available to handle my needs. Really glad I decided to make Stafford Apartments my home. I have to give a shout out to Christian who works in management for going above and beyond the call of duty with everything I have asked of him. Alex
