Story

Steak 'n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes.

For over 80 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for steakburger. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business.

Today, Steak 'n Shake remains the “better burger” leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order. Other classics include the Frisco Melt, 7x7, Prime Steakburgers, and fan favorite M&M milkshakes.

I haven’t been here for several years, but thought I’d give it another try to rede them selves….sorry for the spoiler alert. The sign on the door says “No milkshakes!” Not a good start. There are no employees at the self service order kiosk. Where you find out the your $4.44 special needs a $2.65 drink. They also give you the option to tip…. We had no interactions with any employees. We went to the self service drink fountain to find two choices were “out”. Your name is called out and you return to the counter where your order is placed. Once again no one ask you if you needed anything else. We needed a knife, and the ranch dressing that was missed on our order….but gave up on the knife and the cup of ranch dressing was slid over the counter. Chairs were on tables to keep the few patrons in the nearby booths. Floors were sticky. On the bright side the “smashed” burgers tasted good. Maybe see you in another few years.
Fast service. Fresh food. I Was taking my food Togo but saw this picnic table. Not sure if all locations have outside eating but this was clutch. Had a no1 combo, always a winner.
0 Stars. Terrible service. Nasty food. Slow service. I asked for a fresh burger and the cashier claimed this is how their burgers are. She supposedly refunded my card but never did. Idk how this company is still open. Very disgusting. Fries were so old and bland. Why would you serve this to someone??!
Very disrespectful employees. They were selling customers that had placed to-go orders food to some kids at the window & putting the cash in their pockets & tried to pick a fight with me, started calling me all types of names & saying I wouldn’t get my food, closing the window in my face. DISRESPECTFUL. Then luckily I started recording, he almost threw my food & drink on me. It wasn’t until the manager told him “she’s recording stop” that he realized it was too late. Will be calling cooperate Monday @9am when they open.
The worst service in my life food cold plus I had to wait for a very long time the order I will never come back here
There's no staff to take your order you have to use the automated kiosk which doesn't work properly also I had a $20 gift card but it said it had a zero balance and so I just threw the card away and left. Steak and shake is really gone downhill. It's not worth going thereService: 1/5
My husband and I ordered waited in the line for over 30 minutes to order two large milkshakes, service was good, however the shakes were off, they both didn’t taste right, so I called them because we already drove off but they didn’t answer. I called many times to give them a chance to fix the milkshakes but no one answered, which means they didn’t fix the issue, therefore I am leaving this review. Would I come back here again? No. Please yourselves a favor and don’t come to this one you will be disappointed.
My family and I stopped by to grab something to eat last week and there was no one in there so we dined inside. We ordered through the ziosk & the lady walked over to our table w the trays. Our food was nice and hot but as we started eating, my son noticed a roach coming from under the table. We quickly got up and had to move to another. I informed whom I believe was the day manager and she was very nonchalant and didn’t have any concerning words about the situation. The only comment she made was about them having pest control coming and she’d inform her gen. manager about the situation. The mens restroom was also very disgusting and there was no reason for it to not have been cleaned. My husband had to ask the lady for the cleaning spray just to have it somewhat decent while using it. This location left a very distasteful taste in our mouths, which we’ve not encountered w any other Steak ‘n Shake before. Please do better N. Druid Hills!!!!
I placed my to go order. I got my burger in fast time and cooked good. While we waited on the shakes for 20 min. It seems the shake lady rather change the trash in the bathroom instead of making our shakes. We was clearly here before she began to clean. Make the food first people!!!!Food: 5/5
Still waiting for a refund for an order placed via app on November 6th. Google, the steak and shake website, and their app all said the business was open. We placed an app order, my card was charged, we drove to the business, and they told us they were actually closed and would refund the order. Will delete this review if/when the refund is processed, hoping I do not have to dispute the transaction.
