My 4yo daughter loves SwimJim! She had been taking lessons with other instructors since she was 6 months old, but we switched to SwimJim in Jan 2018 and haven't looked back. The instructors are wonderful and very skilled both in swimming and teaching the littles, and the kids learn a great deal in terms of technique and self confidence. Plus the pool is a toasty 88F, so super comfy for us non-lap-swimmers. Great experience - highly recommended!
We love the space, a quiet clean apartment pool in Greenpoint- a few blocks from the train.. and the crew of teachers are lovely and welcoming. Our teacher, Rosemary, is remarkably good and able to coach our 5 year old with only a few others in class. Our kid gets plenty of attention and rest between bouts of swimming training.
My daughter had a great experience with SwimJim! The instructors were friendly and effective, the pools were quiet and clean, the hours were accomodating for a family with both parents working full time, and compared with other swimming lessons I investigated, the prices were actually extremely reasonable.
My son loves his swimming lessons at swimjim. However, they increased their prices significantly and don’t longer offer a discount if you sign up for 2-3 months in advance. For those that swim year round, it’s too expensive. Hopefully they revise their prices and/or offer the packages again.
Incredible opportunity to introduce your baby to the water in a fun, safe, encouraging environment. The instructor and pool staff were confident, upbeat, and knowledgeable with babies, and supportive of parents, even helping to take photos and hold little ones while parents changed. The space is great and the perfect size for intimate group classes. This is a gem.
The classes are prompt, developmentally appropriate, instructors are pleasant and the kids love it!
Instructors are great! Have never had any issues with quality of instruction. Administration and office personnel on the other hand are very slow to respond to emails, seldom answer the phone, kept my wife on hold for 25 minutes to answer a simple question. Good luck scheduling your “free” Spash-In which you can’t just splash-in for it MUST be scheduled. One email that I sent to "[email protected]" requesting to schedule a Spash-In was responded to by a human requesting that I email "[email protected]." I found this to be pretty off-putting, as my previous Splash-Ins were scheduled via [email protected], and also, why would a human take the time to tell me to send my request to a different mailbox instead of just scheduling the class. We probably would have enrolled for years if the administrative component wasn’t run so poorly. We even got offered a “complimentary” splash-In with the caveat of registering and paying a $35 registration fee. Funny, that’s more than the value of a single class! I am confident that swim lessons are less painful on a parent’s organizational abilities and wallet with other organizations. UPDATE--SwimJim's owner, Jim, came to our "Spash-In" class today to personally address our concerns. This was subsequent to an email exchange with an administrative staffer who told me that my son could not participate today because Spash-Ins were no longer offered during this term's enrollment despite my already paying for them from last term, and not being enrolled this term. I responded that "our son would be attending today's class, thanks." So the owner, Jim arrived personally to greet us. Jim allowed us to participate in today's class which I paid for in my initial enrollment. I still strongly feel that we should be compensated for the trials and tribulations we have endured with SwimJim's customer service team, we have tentative come up with a resolution for forwarding our relationship. I will follow up with another post updating on the outcome of our situation. Update #2–Julia from customer service reached out regarding make up classes. Customer service has gotten much better. swim babies curriculum is a better fit for my son than Swimfants.
This is a shady Compnay. They “inadvertently” signed my daughter up for recurring monthly lessons even thought I stated I wanted to sign her up for 3 month because we were going away for the whole summer and couldn’t possibly make Sunday classes. Anyway they refused to return my money and only offered class swimjim credits. 100% a scam. Watch out.
My kids really got to the next level in swimming with Chris. All their fears were gone too after just a few times ar Swimjim. Highly recommend.
The best swim lessons and instructors you could ever ask for. Great communication and a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!!
