The fish and chips were absolutely delicious. I want to thank our waiter for such a wonderful recommendation. The restaurant was very busy. The kitchen was sparkling clean. Such a wonderful place to eat and then go underground for the concert. The underground venue was simply amazing! Soul school was a spectacular performance. I had so much fun and will definitely be back.
Brunch options were minimal! Mimosa Bottle Service for $20 w/ standard OJ, Cranberry, or Pineapple Juice. Outdoor seating/Outdoor bar! The breakfast sausage was pretty decent. The breakfast potatoes were as if a potato was cut in 4 pieces without any seasonings, so that was a let down! Our appetizer came out when our entrees came out, which is a big no. It seemed that there was only 1 person working when we were there, which is unfortunate because they couldn't focus on their tables & customer service.
First time visiting, good food, excellent service! Would recommend this place to anyone. I ordered the Wings, Volcano Burger and a 16’ Pizza. Everything came out fresh and hot.
Drinks were great and Happy hour is 3-7 weekdays so we caught the tail end of it. The artichoke dip was amazing. Dinner itself was alright, the volcano burger needed onion rings or something. My husband ordered fish and chips and it was good. If you love sports there are tons of TV everywhere. The seating was odd, as we were put in a separate room right in the middle of the room by ourselves. It wasn't until closer to the end of our meal that someone else was seated in the room.
The front of house staff were great but some small improvements in the kitchen would make a huge difference. The lettuce in the salad obviously isn’t spun and is wet a soupy. Also my food was sold way too early so it was just barely warm and the cheese was not melted. All the food seemed rushed. Also a ton of faked reviews with copy/paste text from different accounts that needed to be reported.
The hubs and I came here since we were seeing Tyrone Wells at the Soiled Dove. We have been here before and know the food would be good. Upon entering, we looked at the daily specials and one of the cocktails stood out to me - apple cider mimosa. By the time we were seated at our table, I forgot the entire name and could only remember the apple cider part. When our server came to take our order, I told him there was a specialty cocktail "apple cider something." The server looked completely confused and I had to repeat that it was a special on the board in the front. He said he would figure it out and get it for me. I feel that as my server, you should have a sheet of paper with all the specials written on it to try to sell them. After about 20 minutes, we still didn't have our drinks and our server was nowhere in sight. Finally around the 30 min mark, we got our drinks and he took our orders. The hubs ordered the volcano burger and since I was still full from lunch, I ordered the bowl of bison chili and the glazed crispy brussel sprouts. My husband loved his burger and it was so spicy that he got hiccups lol. My soup tasted delicious but it came out luke warm. It's soup; it literally could be the last thing plated once everything else was completed. The bowl is larger in diameter but there was maybe 1.5" of soup in it so it looked larger than it was. The brussel sprouts were underwhelming as they were literally just flash fried and had a drizzle of glaze on them where most of the glaze was on the outside of the bowl vs on the bussel sprouts. That was it, nothing else. There were also only 6 halves for $8. Yes, 4 halves were larger than normal but 3 brussel sprouts for $8 seems a little expensive especially since they were plain. The apple cider mimosa tasted like a regular mimosa with just a cinnamon sugar rim. Our server checked on us once and then we had to get his attention so we could get our check. I don't think we will be back. The food and drinks besides the burger were super basic and the prices seemed a little steep.
The ONLY reason I gave The Tavern less stars is because of the interior- The staff and food are AMAZING but wow does the inside need some attention. We've been coming here for YEARS and it used to be comfortable and the ambience was lovely- Now the tables are just scratched and there are TVs everywhere- which I get because at the bar people want sports on and such. But the back room that has the fireplace, is lit up by horribly bright string lights and has ZERO appeal as a comfortable place to be. We will always go back but a note to management- pay some attention to the atmosphere again.
What happened to this place? It was once good. We ate here a couple of months ago before a show downstairs at Soiled Dove and the service was atrocious. I mean as bad as it gets. We gave it another chance a few weeks later figuring it was a fluke. Wrong. Horrible, frustrating experience AND the place was dead! Nobody in the place at dinner time on a Friday Everyone in the place seemed stoned and were almost oblivious to the few customers there. Our food took forever and even our drinks took a lifetime. We could see then sitting on the bar so we went and got them ourselves. The food was once great now it’s so-so. I don’t like posting negative reviews but had to on this one. Management needs a house-cleaning and honestly I don’t know how they’ll stay open given the ghost town status on a weekend night. Skip this place or go at your own peril. Truly a train wreck. Take your hard earned cash somewhere where you’re appreciated and respected.
The food, people, location and prices are all amazing! I highly recommend eating here. My fiancé and I ate here every Friday night for a month straight because four Fridays in a row we were celebrating me passing my MBA exams and him celebrating his licenses for financial advising. All this to say we got drinks and dinner and kept coming back!
Met my aunt here for lunch today; The Tavern is typically where we meet and has always been really good! I hadn't been here for quite a while, and was surprised to see how run down it had become. The table was....sticky, the menus were filthy - and they were simply paper and could easily have been replaced with fresh copies. We ended up leaving even before anyone showed up to take our order. There was no one to notice that we left. I don't know about the food, since we left before ordering. What has happened to this restaurant??
