Taverna Kyclades

We came here for an early dinner on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was packed! Thank goodness it was only a 15 minute wait because we were starving. The restaurant does not take reservations, so try to get here early. Big parties will require a longer wait. The fresh olive bread in olive oil was simply divine. The fried cheese was so flavorful, delicious, and had a great texture (was not over fried or mushy). We ordered the sea bass and Mediterranean sea bass. They asked if we wanted them filleted and we said absolutely...but please be cautious as there are some remaining fish bones that they didn't catch. The side of rice was cooked to perfection and the lemon potatoes were so flavorful and infused with lemon flavor. The free dessert was very tasty. Everything we ordered paired well with the wine, which was a retsina (white wine infused with pine resin). I highly recommend trying this place out if you are in the neighborhood!

This restaurant is so Astoria! Prepare to wait, but it's so worth it! Always order large Greek salad. I love grilled swordfish, but other food is also good. Lemon potatoes are on point. And remember that there is always a small dessert at the end.

An excellent Greek restaurant in the heart of Astoria/Ditmars Steinway. It gets very busy during meal times, but fortunately there are many other options in the area if waiting is not your thing. Somehow there is a Mediterranean coastal vibe when dining at the restaurant, maybe it's the outdoor seating with the blue umbrellas. To start, all the dips are excellent, and if you can't decide on one dip, order the pikilia and you get a sample of all 4 dips. We recently had a quick lunch here; my wife ordered the Greek salad and I had the fried calamari with lemon potatoes. Food is always solid, but as with all seafood places (or places that serves seafood), be careful with getting take-out and leftovers.

If your looking to hangout in a 90 degree evening eating the best Greek seafood in May with family and friends look no further than venturing to Astoria. This place was packed when we arrived and we kept seeing plates among plates of fresh seafood being delivered to both inside and street side tables. We had the Black Bass which the waiter recommended and it was grilled to perfection retaining a lot of it's juicy freshness with the flaky white meat. It came as a whole fish and cleaned where it had no unpleasant taste in the stomach area. A must try for any occasion for seafood lovers.

Classic Astoria spot! Attentive and friendly staffs! Great portions. Too bad they didn’t have any beers on the menu except for the Greek one. Good food made up for it. Delicious house bread as well. Best octopus ever!!!
