Nice neighborhood hangout! Terrific all round fun! I had the gyros w/onion ring just delicious! Hanging out for Stanley Cup game 7! Very friendly place Food: 5/5
Are you looking for a good dive bar in one of the most expensive suburbs of DC? Then Barking Dog is the place for you. The no-frills atmosphere and staff are welcoming to the tourists just as much as their regulars. Bites at the bar aren’t half bad, they are what you expect from a dive-bar - greasy and hot and taste better the more time you’ve spent drinking before ordering.
My friends and I enjoyed lunch on a relatively quiet winter weekday. Although the service was not quick we arrived just after two larger groups, the food arrived piping hot. My chicken quesadilla was topped with a pleasantly spicy drizzle. The fish, of the fish and chips, had noticeably flavored coating. The Doghouse Burger came on a real kaiser roll which stood up to the juicy burger. This place strives for dive bar ambience but is far too clean, and with too well-made food.
Walked in randomly while completely out of it after a long travel day and the bartender Dylan was incredibly friendly. I came back the next day to same experience which was appreciated. I was going to stop by one more time before heading home next morning but alas the salt cave got my curiosity and I ran out of time. Thanks again, Dylan. Look me up when ya head west!
I really like this place good food good drinks great staff that's the best bar in Washington-last night a friend and I sampled the list of their craft beers and it's a great list and the food continues to be fantastic. I had a cheesesteak. My friend had a crabcake. It was pretty awesome. Keep it up guys.Food: 4/5
I am sitting at the bar and had to write about how good the fried spicy chicken sandwich was. Absolute 10/10. The sauce was so unique- spicy and sweet at the same time. The beer was cold and the bartender actually introduced himself, asked for my name, and remembered it the rest of the night. I love a good dive bar, but this was a great bar dive.
Went to watch the World Cup Final. WOW, what a game. Had some irish coffee to start the morning, add two Raging B*tch beers. Good atmosphere. Their fries are decent too. The service was fast and consideret. Sat at the bar and had great view of the tv screen. They have plenty of screens around the place, awesome sports pub.
My coworkers and I stumbled upon the Barking Dog during a work trip. They welcomed our company teams with open arms, especially Kelly who went above and beyond to serve us. He remembered us from the night before and treated us well—so slay. Unfortunately, the bartender not so much. If we’re ever in the DC area again, we’ll definitely be back to hang with Kelly at the Barking Dog!
I was looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately their kitchen closed before the bar closed. Wouldn’t usually be a problem, but there was no indication on the website. They specifically have a “late night menu”, too. 10 stars for the servers though, they couldn’t have been nicer! Hope to try again another time.
Good fun ambience. But man, that lobster roll really disappointed, big time, the roll was cold and stale. And I scoped the crab out, and it was about half of an ice cream scoop - for the money it's a huge rip. Nobody even checked in on me after the food dropped for 15 mins, just sat there with a plate of uneaten food until I stood up and asked for a manager. Don't get trapped here for the Rolls.
