I cannot say enough good things about my experience living at the Celine! I never write reviews but I had to share. I moved from Los Angeles and chose the Celine based on the gorgeous style and great neighborhood. From the moment I applied to move in, Violet and Scott took impeccable care of me. The most thourough and kindest communication I've ever had from a property management team by far and I've lived in many apartments. As for the unit/building - I moved in sight unseen. The unit far exceeded my expectations. It's super clean, spacious, amazing natural light, with high end appliances, quiet neighbors and in peaceful neighborhood. An absolute dream, I can't recommend this building enough.
Such a cool area and beautiful place to live. Under new management and really great to work with!
This space is so beautiful and it was so easy working with the buildings new management crew!!
This brand new building has been a joy to live in for the last number of weeks since my wife and I received our keys. The transparency around the application process far exceeded expectations and I cannot say enough positive things about the leasing agents that are at The Celine. The neighborhood is nestled quite beautifully between a single lot from NW 23rd and two blocks from an amazing park that if you have a dog you will absolutely love. The parking - accurate as of the date of this review - is not difficult at all, which is hard to say in a NW neighborhood of Portland. Plenty of options on the street, and they have quite a few spots remaining if you prefer to keep your car behind an access-controlled gate. The apartments on the inside are quite modern and should you make the wise decision to move in, you will notice some cool new feature on one of the appliances almost on the daily for the first full week. That's saying a lot as I am not a stranger to understanding electronics and gadgets. So if you want to not only have awesome neighbors *clears throat* but also want to be walking distance to everything you could need or desire and be in a building that everyone walks by and comments in a positive way, not in a "they are ruining Portland" way on the building then you should probably give them a call and stop by today. It is not a big building and there have been "taken" signs added to apartment doors in the 40-unit building almost daily. Happy hunting!
*RENTERS BEWARE!!* The Celine from the outside looks like a great apartment building, but in reality is terrible. My husband and I rented a two bedroom apartment for about 6 months. Right away we noticed no one ever completed building the apartment. screws were missing, things were falling apart not a huge deal and was fixable. However, we had a large metal pipe outside our bedroom window that would bang every time it rained which is often here which was not great but again not the end of the world. Then, our dishwasher broke and flooded the floor, leaving us without a dishwasher over Thanksgiving. Again I understand things break, it was eventually dealt with. Then things started to get worse..we had a large family move in above us that stayed up late at night and were also up early which is when we realized the walls were paper thin. Neither of us could sleep. We had things falling off the wall, ect...After talking to the family multiple times and trying to explain the thins walls, we asked The Celine to talk to them multiple times as this was seriously effecting us being able to go to work in the morning. No action seemed to be taken and the noise continued, so we asked if we could at least move apartments. This was not an options without paying a lot more than we already were. So, when nothing was done we finally gave our 30 days notice to move out as we could not even sleep at night anymore. Also as a side note, within that 6 month period we knew of at least six cars in the area that were broken into, one of which being IN the garage at The Celine and one being our own directly in front of The Celine The icing on the cake was once we finally were able to move out, they refused to respond to our calls or emails any longer. We tried many times to contact them to retrieve our mail, make sure the apartment was clean enough, the keys returned, and our final bill paid. But they would not respond!! One month later and we find out they sent us to COLLECTIONS and charged us for breaking our lease early!! After speaking with the collections agent, he informed us this is normal business for them! How terrible is that?? DO NOT RENT HERE. There are many other places that are cheaper and I would hope would treat you better than this. I have NEVER left a negative review for anyone, but this was awful...
Let me start out by saying this will not be a standard review. I only write reviews when they are 100% deserved and I have done enough research to objectively bring my opinion value. Briefly I will give a summary of my situation leading up to my decision to live at The Celine so that the full picture is perceived. My husband and I lived at one of the best buildings under one of the most legit property management teams in Portland but our lease was up and we wanted to live in a NW neighborhood. We moved here almost 2 years ago from Los Angeles and just wanted to be in a vibrantly alive neighborhood again. The search for our next home was on like Donkey Kong. Between the research I have done when moving out of state in addition to the one other time I moved within Portland, I have seen, spoken with, and emailed almost every new and old building that exists or is going to in the near future. If you don't believe me, contact me. I will prove it. I am picky and my home in addition to where I put my money is very important to me. That said I had visited all the buildings you see on every apartment search site. Many of them have significant concessions and offer certain ammenities that are appealing. What I found was that their vibe, lack of professionalism, or the value for what you would be living in didn't match the hype. In conclusion I chose The Celine and the two most significant factors leading to my decision are: 1. It is by far the hottest building on the block in one of the coolest neighborhoods. 2. Brittany Gareau is an amazing leasing agent that was not only knowledgeable, professional, helpful, patient, and respectful - but also kind. In my experience there are plenty of leasing agents out there who are literally just trying to make a sale, lazy, or underdeveloped in their skills; not to mention I believe a good percentage are most likely practicing unethically. I will not go into detail but consider yourself warned. Renting a home is very different than purchasing a pair of shoes. I will let you think that over and get to why The Celine should be your next choice if you are looking for a new spot. 1. The modern black and white interiors, all hardwood flooring, beautiful floor to ceiling windows, all the technologically advanced appliances, and amazing lighting is to die for. 2. The neighborhood is off the hook. You get the best of both worlds. It's happening but not crazy like the Pearl District. You feel that true Portland vibe. A little city a little nature. The streets are safe, well lit, and filled with great shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. 3. Since I have moved in I have seen several people on a daily basis walk past the building in awe and making complimentary statements or express desire to live here. 4. I did the research for you - save yourself time, effort, and don't be dumb! 5. I will be your neighbor!
Personally have heard past problems are getting attention and rectified in a timely manor.
Between the elevator not working for three weeks in a row this year to unsafe bike storage/ parking lot. No compensations have ever been given.
Great new apartments in Slab Town. Great location with a large park just two blocks away and lots of restaurants, coffeehouses, pubs and shops within walking distance.
Loving the new management!
