Nice British pub serving all the classics in food and beverages. They do a pub quiz every Tuesday with a $10 entry fee per head booking required ahead. The servers are very attentive and catered to all our needs despite it being very busy. Dropping a star since there was an issue with one of our orders which was rectified and deducted from our bill. COVID vaccinations proof required upon entry to the building.
Came in for their Traditional Sunday Roast and had scotch eggs and the roast beef and chicken. The flavor of the scotch eggs was very good! The sausage was seasoned well with spices and herby flavors, but the yolk was too hard boiled for my personal tastes as it was hard boiled to being a bit crumbly. I think I would have preferred a jammier/runnier texture for the yolk. The egg itself also kinda easily popped out of the sausage casing as we cut into it. Again, flavor was good, I think it just lacked a bit on technical finesse. The roasts were also very tasty, tho the veggies they came with felt a bit under seasoned. The beef had some parts where the collagen hadn't fully broken down, thus making it a bit chewier and harder to cut than I would have liked, but we came in earlier in the afternoon so it's possible the roast just simply hadn't had enough time yet. If someone were to order this perhaps a few hours after we dined, this wouldn't have been an issue. But overall the both chicken and beef roasts were quite good and the Yorkshire pudding was super light and flaky, perfect for mopping up the juices from the meat.
July 4, 2022 4:30pm. Walked in to no hostess. We went to the bar and the bartender told us to sit anywhere. She brought the menus right away. But then we sat for at least 10 minutes before a waiter came over. He was nice but couldn't explain the flavor of the mushy peas. He went to the kitchen to find out, "They're canned". I still didn't know the flavor. We decided on Buffalo Meatballs and Fish 'n Chips. The food was HOT thank you, Chef! The meatballs were dense and tasty. My husband is a fan! My fish and chips were good but what was the green sauce? Anyway, once we got our food we were satisfied. Towards the end, as I was signing the check a guy sat a the bar. He seemed like a regular and on his shoulder sat his cute doggy.
Really love it at The Churchill, even if it’s a bit far from my neighborhood. It’s sometimes a little noisy with chatter-over-music or music, but it’s got lovely snugs to have a bit more quiet if you need. Super attentive and helpful staff, great happy hour prices, and delicious food. If you’re a Brit in town on vacation, an ex pat, or an Anglophile, you’ll love it here. And kudos for the Saint George’s Society of New York pub quizzes!
I really like the ambience and decor, it's a beautiful little pub with a great selection of beers. I gotta admit though, the food was underwhelming, we ordered a burger and the shepherd's pie and they were both insanely salty. The Brussels sprout were watery, definitely needed to cook longer. Last time we went there they were operating regular business but also had some big party celebrating something, these people were particularly annoying, they basically monopolized half the restaurant, standing sparsely around the entrance, getting in and out was complicated because of them, they were loud and annoying and acted like the restaurant was their own. They genuinely killed the vibe.
Service was great. Food was good if not great. Fish & chips was ok but not much flavor maybe this is just normal British cooking?. Apps were all tasty. Nothing mind blowing but nothing terrible. Just needed some salt.
Always come here with my coworkers after a long day at work. Bartenders are chill make bomb after drinks and what I love most about this place is they close at 4am. Even if I wasn't working and was around the area it's a great quick pregame stop or a great I still wanna drink so I dam sure goign to pop up stop.
8/10 great spot! Not the average bar, it’s a cool spot inside and a small bar and great atmosphere. Surprisingly good food! The crispy artichoke was tasty, English dip was delicious. Guinness was super cold.
Booked a table for Christmas Day. Ordered 3 course meal. Nice and cosy with Xmas music in the background. Service was very quick. No long wait for a drink or food. The only criticism was that the Brussel sprouts were too hard needed a bit more cooking time.
Great atmosphere. Cocktails were on the pricy side but really tasty. Love the holiday decorations and the Churchill speeches playing in the restroom was very on brand!
