The Cooperage is one of the great Milwaukee venues that sits a bit off the beaten path and offers all kinds of opportunities to enjoy all that it has to offer. As an area wedding photographer, I love when the couples I work with choose the Cooperage as it's super photogenic on its own and within a very short walking distance to all kinds of unique locations. It can accommodate indoor as well as outdoor ceremony options, both of which are beautiful. It's right on the river and has carved out its own identity down in that area. The rooftop access provides an unobstructed view of the Hoan as well as the the Lake behind it. There's also a really nice apartment attached to the property which acts as a really convenient and unique prep space. If you're not getting married there, might as well stop by the compound to grab some tacos at Taco Moto or grab a cocktail and some beers at Boone & Crockett. I look forward to being back there many times, as the team who run the events also do a fantastic job of keeping things tight and have always been very collaborative in the mission of providing a great experience to clients.
My husband & I got married July 2023 at The Cooperage and I wouldn't go back and do it any other way! Maddie was fantastic to work with - very laid back/flexible but quick to respond to any questions we had or changes we were making. Chef Mitch had our guests ranting and raving about the food, and all our guests stated they were quick to receive drinks at the bar. We had 123 people, total. We opted for an indoor ceremony and then encouraged our guests to go outside for cocktail hour while the staff flipped the space. Having the outdoor space during this time seemed necessary, it would be hard to displace that many guests into the bar area alone, although I suppose the balcony space could be utilized for this. For dinner, we had a sweetheart table and 16 8-person guest tables. I really wanted all our guests to eat on the main floor as opposed to using the balcony space, and Maddie warned me while it would be a bit snug, they could make it work. They did indeed make it work with serving family-style dinner, and I very much appreciated their willingness to work with me! Something to note: The Cooperage staff set out the chargers that we brought, but otherwise you are responsible for the set-up of everything else you bring i.e table numbers, unity candle, neon sign, etc. Overall, Maddie was great to work with. The appetizers & dinner food were as good as you will get, the bar service was quick and friendly, and the space is exactly what you make it!
Couldn't be happier with out choice to have our wedding at The Cooperage! Maddie did an outstanding job of making sure everything went smoothly and responded quickly to any questions I had. Chef Mitch did a beautiful job with our charcuterie and desserts and our guest all said the food was amazing. the bartenders were fast and friendly. I worked in the wedding venue biz for a while and The Cooperage is top notch! Thank you so much!
Saw Bomber and Red, Modern Joey, and Wire and Nail here. The venue is super neat inside of an old warehouse. The cranes and large industrial beams still adorn the place. The acoustics are pretty good as well. The bar is located right next to the dance floor so you never miss a second of the music. There's also a nice grassy patio section outside for getting a breath of fresh air or rippin' a dart. Drink prices are not ridiculous $6 for wells, $9 for midtier hard liquor. They have a great beer selection and limited wine.
I was here to see The Beaches last week and the venue itself is wonderful! Small place but it felt big enough for a small concert. Outside of the venue, there were a few food trucks that look like they are there year round. And there was free parking too!
WOW!!! What a space!!! Went for the vintage show & between the bar, open concept, beautiful exposed brick, right on river & food trucks! Plus whoever they employed as dj was EXCELLENT!!!
AMAZING wedding venue. Perfect ceremony with coordinated sound and good landscaping, well stocked bar with plenty of bar staff not a wait longer than a few minutes or less in a wedding of 150ish people and the sound quality for the band was amazing. We have received so many compliments on this venue and how well it was done. We cannot take credit for all of them. Emily and the Cooperage have the best house plants that double as decor, staff, cute vintage plates and shareable food options. They easily and seamlessly worked with our vendors to have everything work. And you cannot beat the wedding pictures on the roof. If I have any other event in Milwaukee - it will be here!!!
Our first visit here as Michiganders. It seems fun and casual. The drinks were good. The atmosphere is slightly historical, warehouse, boatyard, you-do-you kind of vibe
Poor sound design for live music hard surfaces for sound to bounce and nothing to absorb the intensity of 100+ decibels. The aesthetic is appealing and the stage is high up, which is great.
Lovely venue for live acts, great beer and wine selections, and outdoor patio, bars, and food truck.
