Excellent. Piece of history in a close range of my house. It is well preserved history. I would recommend it to anyone who likes history. By the way.. it is haunted by Native Americans so be careful. -Your dad

Good start to a hiking trip in the Watchung Reservation. There are some historical markers and an historical trail related to the Revolutionary War Battle of Short Hills (a tactical win for our side, but nothing to do with today's town of Short Hills). Maskers Barn, a restored structure in the Village, seems to be available for parties. From here, there are several trails that will take you over to the Loop, where there's a playground and the Nature Center.

A place friends and I frequently visit monthly. Found this place on atlasobscura. Well worth the trip to visit. There's always something new to discover and trails are vast and plentiful. A great place if you're looking for a peaceful hike. Leashed animals are welcome which is a bonus.

Great place for a hike, well-maintained Trails although it has seen some damage in our March storms and most noticeably and old Log bridge over the river is now missing. You can cross on rocks but if you are nervous or not wearing proper Footwear you might consider a different path. There are nice placards recently added to explain the history. There is also a small Museum.

Glad to have found this place when looking for "things to do in Union NJ"! I'm here on holiday from the PH and my relatives from Union didn't even know this was here. Pleasant surprise for us all. It's a nice, quiet place to walk around and learn a little bit of some NJ history. The visitor center was closed when we were there, but there were brochures and markers everywhere, so a self tour was easy to do.
