While passing through Baltimore recently, I spent one night in the West Room. The room is in the back, overlooks a parking lot, and is very quiet. It is beautifully appointed, like the rest of the house, roomy enough for a couple, and has an incredibly comfortable bed. Tom and Larry provide discreet, gracious service and are always available by cell phone. I loved my first visit to Baltimore and would not hesitate to book here again.
We recently stayed at the Empire House and had a wonderful time. The house is spectacular and Tom and Larry are excellent hosts. They offer personalized tourist and restaurant recommendations to all of their guests and have detailed knowledge of the history of Baltimore. As other reviewers have said, the house is located in the heart of Mount Vernon and only a few minutes from the harbor and Johns Hopkins. I will gladly stay here again the next time I am in Baltimore.
This is where we recommend all of our out-of-town guests stay when they visit Baltimore. Tom is the best host and his home is gorgeous and well-situated. Do not hesitate to book a stay here. It is such a gem.
My wife and I went to Baltimore for an overnight date. We saw a show at the Lyric Opera House so wanted to stay within walking distance. The Empire house was a hidden gem! Tom, the owner, was a friendly as can be. We stayed on the top floor, 2-room suite. It was fantastic! The home is beautiful. It was so quiet we slept in until 1000 which is highly unusual for us. What a GREAT place to stay!
Absolutely stunning house with an amazing host. Highly recommend for anyone staying in the Baltimore area. Huge ceilings with gorgeous architecture. I love the way it is designed as well. The bathroom has a huge clawfoot tub which was a nice surprise. Couldn't say anymore positive things about this house + the host :
Our trip to Baltimore was unforgettable. It was made all the more wonderful with our stay at the Empire House. We were in the West Room, a large bedroom with access to two half baths. The room was as charming as our hosts. The location was remarkable too. The train station is within walking distance. There's a free bus route is just steps from the front door. And the Brewer's Art one of the best brew pubs in the area is right around the corner. We hit up the museum down Charles Street and some great self-guided walking tours through Fell's Point and Federal Hill. For more ideas on what you can do during your stay, ask the staff at Empire House. They're friendly and happy to share their wealth of knowledge about Baltimore with you.
The Empire House is awesome! And the proprietor Tom is great. I got kind of lost on the way there, even though he gave me great, local landmark-y directions - it was totally my fault. But Tom still came and picked me up where I was, because it was raining hard. He did not have to do that and I really appreciated it. Of course the House itself is totally great too. I really had no idea how nice it would be on the inside, and I did not realize it's historical significance before I got there. But I definitely enjoyed all of the great common space in there - it really feels like a nineteenth century senator's residence, And my room was great to boot, comfortable bed, impeccable bathroom - really fabulous all around. Highly recommended - definitely my first choice for where to stay whenever I get back to Baltimore.
My fiance and I could not have been more pleased with our experience at The Empire House! We stayed in the Mansard Suite for two nights in late July we were in town to attend a wedding at the The Belvedere, which is located next door and were absolutely thrilled with our accommodations. The suite itself and much of the house has a sort of "Royal Tenenbaums" feel and is even more elegant than in the photos on the website. The two rooms in the suite are fairly spacious and the antique wardrobes and built-ins provide ample storage. The bathroom is well appointed and is furnished with a vintage clawfoot bathtub and shower. Despite the fact that the house sits directly on Chase St., the room is remarkably quite. Really quite lovely overall. The one very minor criticism that we identified: the lock on the front door of the house is quite difficult to use. While the front doors are beautiful, the locking mechanism is incredibly stiff or the key that we were given is very poorly cut, which can make it challenging to enter/exit through the front doors quickly. Overall, The Empire House is magnificent. We do not visit Baltimore often, but will look forward to staying here every time that we do.
We stayed in the "West Room", I believe. We had a really good experience being close to the wedding we attended right down the street. Small private parking lot! The AC in the room was solid on a really hot day. We were able to let ourselves in super late at night with no trouble. The whole house is something to admire and the decor of each room is no different. I recommend to anyone that has business in the city, and especially the Mt Vernon, Charles Village area, please consider staying here. We enjoyed it, and for a fair price. Which of course goes into small, local business.
honestly one of my favorite airbnbs i’ve stayed in all of my travels. this house is so charming, so beautiful and comes w an easy check in process, lovely details like the claw foot tub and full kitchen access with amenities like sodas, coffee, etc. the host is helpful and kind and we never wanted to leave. we had the top floor room and the house is quiet at night. cannot get over this charming place and hope we’ll be back
