Loved it here! The Doppelganger is fire - literally it's ON fire. The location is beautiful. They're creating a whiskey room and the big group room is gorgeous and perfect for parties. They have so much space to host and in general the place is amazing. I love a good speakeasy vibe and they've definitely captured that. I think my one criticism would be the snacks they have available - 14 dollars for a 1/4 cup of nuts was obscene. I'll definitely be back here as much as possible, loved the new location, loved the service. Once again Franklin Bar is a Philly staple.
Just getting into the building is an experience, having to go down an alley and meet the doorman. Moody aesthetic and speakeasy vibes inside. Cocktails are inventive and delicious. Didn't try the food, but the snacks sounded tasty. Staff was friendly. Would definitely return to see what other inventive cocktails they come up with.
Wife and I spent the weekend in Philly. Had a blast visited so many great establishments. Met Patrick at Franklin and he was the “best of the best” mixing us amazing classic cocktails. Great conversation and even guided me on how to make a better Manhattan at home. Very friendly , humble and personable. My wife and I cannot wait to return. Just a fantastic evening, fantastic staff and fantastic cocktails. I found the holy grail of “Manhattans.” The entire staff was incredible.
It's a speakeasy place. It took a while to find this out. The feel of doing something forbidden in old days elevated the experience. We were welcomed with a house punch which was delicious. I had a drink that had a smokey flavour, loved it. However, the drinks are very pricey
Neat speakeasy with good drinks overall. I really appreciated that Franklin Mortgage took reservations, that's a huge plus. With that said, I've had better cocktails in Philly, much less in Philly speakeasies. I'd definitely come back, but likely only in a group.
Good speakeasy vives and good cocktails. You’ll need to make a reservation ahead of time since the place is not that big. If you pass by you’ll miss it easily, so pay attention to the doors on the back street.
Great service and great drinks. Ambience was intimate and relaxing with multiple rooms. Highly suggest making reservations. We went last minute and had to wait, thankfully it wasn’t too long.
Went to this spot this past Friday. Was pretty excited given the buzz around their cocktails and the atmosphere, but quickly changed my tune once inside. I'll give this bar credit for trying to go for the speakeasy vibe, but they fail to truly nail anything. The drinks, despite being decent quality, were nowhere near the quality I would expect for the price. In fact, they tasted a bit like watered down versions of some of the better cocktails I've had at premium bars around the country. Additionally, the bar is way too "intimate." They over pack the seating area to where you can barely move and you're right on top of every other conversation going on around you. Tough for a date night and the music kept going in and out further leading to awkward silences. I'll give this bar another shot down the line, but my first impression is not ideal given the price point.
Stopped in for drinks after dinner and so happy we were able to get in on a Saturday night without reservation. We witnessed many people get turned away as the bar was completely packed. This is a swanky, moody bar with well crafted drinks. We ordered the "Per my last email" and "I'm reliable resources." Both drinks were mezcal based as hubby and I both love the smoky taste of mezcal. Drinks are on the pricier side so plan accordingly.
The coolest part about this chill speakeasy was the staff. They greeted us as we sat and were friendly as friendly as bartenders are considered as well as informative with the questions we had about the cocktails we were interested in; drinks were tasty and well made. We intended to just have a drink and check a few other places out but because we had so much fun, we closed the joint. As far as other attributes, the place has a lot more space then most speakeasy's with room to sit at tables as well as two other sperate rooms for more privacy not sure if you have to reserve beforehand, good lighting, chill music that isn't blaring so you can actually talk and more importantly HEAR. Was a cool place and will definitely be on the circuit of places I visit when downtown...stop in and give it go.
