My husband and I were traveling to NOLA for work and wanted to stay somewhere somewhat close to the action but not in the middle. This location was perfect, close to the Spotted Cat & Ayu Bakehouse which we really enjoyed. We enjoyed the pool in the evenings and never had a problem with noise, but we were in an upstairs room above the pool. Check-in was easy, Taylor was so helpful in letting us keep our bags in the lobby when we checked out until it was time to leave, and we would absolutely stay here again! Rooms: Clean, comfortable, and great A/C!!! Nearby activities: Jazz clubs, park, shops. Walkability: We walked everywhere from here! Frenchmen St is fun at night and in the morning we walked to Ayu Bakehouse. Downtown also isn’t too far!
Nice little boutique hotel think "updated motel" at a compelling price and in a very convenient location on Frenchmen Street, at the nexus of the French Quarter, Marigny, and the Bywater. Staff were helpful, friendly, and polite. Note 1: it will be very loud due to the bands, bars, and traffic on the street. I used ear plugs which they provide and I was fine, but I'm a heavy sleeper. It didn't bother me, but I know people who would be. Note 2: The room was musty smelling when I arrived, but clean and comfortable. Propping the door open for a couple hours while I worked and running the ceiling fan at a gentle speed seemed to fix it.
Placarded as a Historical location by the Department of the Interior, this hidden gem is nestled just off Bourbon Street. In this up and coming location, it is right across from the Fire Station #9 on Frenchmen Street. Quaint, sometimes a bit quirky, this is a locale that you need to experience. It screams NOLA with a bit of modern charm. Don't expect to find parking easily here. DO expect to be close to most everything you would expect from the French Quarter and more. Ride in, check in, unload, and take your personal vehicle to a long term parking lot away from the Quarter that's a bit safer and monitored. Uber/Lyft back. That's just a fact. You'll be in walking distance of most everything you need to see and experience. NOLA barely sleeps, so expect plenty of noise from the locals into the wee hours of the night and morning. Free earplugs in the hotel lobby, be sure to grab a set if you're a light sleeper. Remember, you don't visit NOLA unless you plan to party a bit, you're almost expected to. The Frenchmen Hotel is a great little hotel with simple and pleasant amenities to make your stay enjoyable. Small pool, hot tub, bar and occasional live entertainment keeps you in for a bit, but GET OUT and enjoy the entire experience. It's not a Ritz or Four Seasons, but you don't stay in NOLA to be pampered. You come to enjoy the people, the music, and the food. For a great tour guide in the Quarter, Yah Yah Universe is the QUEEN of spooky and supernatural not what you'd think. Have a blast and be sure to stay at the Frenchmen on your next visit to NOLA!!!
Rooms are beautiful but THE FLOOR IS SO NASTY I WASHED MY FEET BEFORE BED AND ENDED UP HAVING TO WEAR SOCKS ANYTIME I GOT UP TO WALK AROUND!!! Needs moped bad but was vacuumed!!! UghRooms: 3/5
My boyfriend and I stayed here for my birthday, and we had an amazing experience. We stayed in a Queen Loft Suite, which was gorgeously decorated and extremely comfortable. With the room being on the back of the hotel, we really had no issues with noise, especially since we play rain sounds at night. While the hotel doesn't have dedicated parking, we had no issue finding spots nearby. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and kind. The pool and hot tub were serene and usually empty, which was really nice after walking through the New Orleans humidity all day. We felt very safe at the hotel, especially knowing it was controlled access. I've already recommended The Frenchmen Hotel to multiple friends, and I will absolutely be back!
The hotel was a very comfortable and relaxing place to enjoy. We had the 1st floor room on Frenchmen St. If you do not mind the noise and people walking by its great. We were up and out and about late so no worries for us. The staff was very polite and helpful. The lobby was great to sit in the morning with coffee and talk about events and places to go for the day. The staff really helped out on letting us know of some great local places to eat and visit. We will most definitely be back to visit and highly recommend staying. Rooms: Rooms are comfy and were clean and well maintained. Nearby activities: The Frenchmen Moonlight Market is a must see. Shopping at the French Market is close by as well. So many activities and sounds of music to be had and enjoyed. Walkability: Being on Frenchmen St gives you access and walkability to anything and everything you could want or need. Food and drinks: The tiki tok bar was fun and the bartenders were so fun and inviting. Good times all the time vibe.
Great location, walking distance to music venues, the Quarter, and a short cab ride to the Bywater. I love the boutique feel, the colorful decor, and the overall authenticity of the property. What I didn’t love was getting back to the hotel at 12:30 am to find that neither of our key FOBs worked. There wasn’t anyone working at the front desk to let us in, instead a note with a number to call for assistance. Called the number and was told he’d be there the GM in a couple minutes to let us in, twenty minutes later he shows up. Apparently, the key FOBs not working is an “ongoing issue” because he said it isn’t the first time it’s happened. We were given new keys and told he’d buy us a round at the hotel bar - honestly, not the best solution. Also, that never happened. How about a room upgrade considering all of the availability? The next night was the annual Chewbaccus parade which we watched from our balcony room - awesome! What wasn’t awesome was the after party in the hotel’s tiki bar that had a DJ playing until 3pm with the bass so loud it shook the room. We expected noise from the street and nearby music venues, but not directly beneath us with EDM style bass bumping most of the night - it was over the top for a hotel. We were given zero direction on daily room service or what to do upon checkout. No drinking water in the rooms but a culligan in the lobby - bring a water bottle because they don’t give clean glassware in the rooms. I think this place has great potential, but there are details that need to be addressed and common courtesies extended to guests that’s expected in the hospitality industry. Nearby activities: Blue Nile, record shop next door, jazz museum. Walkability: Frenchmen street’s bars, music venues, and some restaurants. 20 minutes from places like Felix’s and Mr B’s in the Quarter.
Had a fantastic time in this very different hotel. Great unusual decor in rooms. Super comfy beds, great shower, towels and toiletries supplied. Staff friendly. Good coffee and great cocktail bar and dip pool with the hotel. Absolutely loved our stay and would definitely stay again. Our rooms.looked out onto frenchman Street and the upstairs part of the cocktail bar. Wasn't disturbed by loud noise and I was near cocktail bar. Cocktails were great and it was lovely watching the lady make all the cocktails Sis heard the fire engines a bit and some.late night revellers but all.part of the holiday and what you would expect of new orleans. Lovely find, happy to recommend. Many thanks to everyone Rooms: Comfy beds, suite was superb, powerful shower, great lounge area Walkability: Able.to.walk so many places from.here. right on frenchman Street where there are lots of places to eat and get a drink and listen to.music
The Frenchmen Hotel is a must for anyone keen on exploring the cultural scene in New Orleans, without any of that trashy chaos of Bourbon Street. We also found it extremely affordable for what you're getting. If you're looking for a quaint spot at the edge of the French quarter, in walking distance to virtually everything, with all the jazz, blues, deep roots, and southern cuisine that Frenchmen Street has to offer, then this is the place for you. There's a gorgeous pool under an open sky available to patrons at all times, the staff are very attentive and kind, and the rooms are fun and clean. The only thing to be aware of and they'll be the first to tell you via text message in advance of your stay: it is very loud right up until around 12am for most nights, and up to 3am on Friday and Saturday night. But if you're willing to plan around that rather than resist it, you'll be fine! You're on vacation in NOLA for goodness sakes! Live a little. Additional notes: Our room had a mini fridge stocked with cans of beer, but we don’t drink. Some non-alcoholic options would have been appreciated. There was also a basket of snacks, condoms, and other treats available for purchase on top of the mini fridge. The shower was clean and very functional, with soaps, shampoos, and lotions full stocked. Lots of towels in all shapes and sizes. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. Each bed also had a bedside table with lamps and power bars with USB outlets. The room was also equipped with cable TV and a cute little radio. We heard from other patrons that the Tikki bar was world class not sure what that means, but as we don’t drink we didn’t partake.
Stayed here for a long weekend get away and it was everything we hoped for and more! Such a charming, boutique vibe. You get the feel of the history of the building, but with wonderful modern updates. We stayed in the Queen Balcony and had a great view of the street. Absolutely great location if you want access to good music - the whole street comes alive at night! So many great clubs to check out. Also highly walkable to the Trolley and other parts of the French Quarter. BUT WARNING- it is loud at night!! If you are looking to go to bed earlier, maybe not the place for you. But our room was supposedly the most exposed to music- they gave us ear plugs, and we used the in room speakers to put on white noise, and had no trouble sleeping. And finally, everyone that worked there was so kind and accommodating. Gave great tips and so so nice. Would definitely stay again!
