Cesar was so welcoming and accommodating. The house is beautiful, and the room was very comfortable. Linda made delicious vegetarian breakfasts for me each day. Her sizzling tofu was fabulous! I look forward to staying again very soon!Rooms: 5/5
Such a great B&B experience! Caesar the host was very accommodating, kind, and caring. The place is incredibly clean and well thought of, full of antiques and history! Breakfast was excellent as well! We will definitely be back.
We loved our stay! So beautiful and relaxing, a wonderful welcome from Linda and delicious breakfast! We took the trolley into the city which was so easy to access from the B and B, and they had passes we could use which was so helpful. We loved the Blue Willow Room! Can't wait to come again and have more time to sit in the parlors, garden areas and on the porch. The owners have done amazing job keeping this beautiful Victorian in great shape!
What an amazing place to stay! The attention to detail was so perfect - from the beautiful linens on our bed to the delicious breakfast - our host thought of everything to make our stay so restful. We never even turned on the TV! We sat, read, talked and sipped wine by our personal fireplace. Perfect!Rooms: 5/5
Cesar and everyone at The Gables were fantastic! Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! The complimentary drinks and snacks were appreciated. All in all a beautiful place to stay with an incredible staff and ownership!Rooms: 5/5
My partner and I held our wedding at this rare and truly special place last month. We were able to have our families and some close friends all stay together for a full weekend getaway there, which made the experience all the more incredible and intimate. Cesar and the entire staff were unbelievably welcoming, professional, and responsive. They worked with us to tailor a delicious, festive meal and elegant decor for the reception in their beautiful garden. Their generosity and warmth made us all feel at home as if we were in a kind of sacred, dream space away from the world, which was exactly what we wanted. We could not have been more satisfied and appreciative!
Came here for our honeymoon! This place is ridiculously awesome! It's beautiful, clean, convenient to the major parts of the city trolley stop right in front but is also secluded so there is no drama going on outside at all hours. Cesar and his partner are amazing! Very attentive and willing to make accommodations for dietary restrictions. The food is fantastic! We were floored by it in all honesty. The room was a good size, the decor is magical throughout the house and you can tell Cesar loves everything about it. There are always some sort of baked goods available in the foyer for a nibble and the house smells like grandma's cookies. Hands down a fantastic B&B!
We stayed at The Gables for our anniversary in September. This is an extraordinary place for two reasons. First, the house is full of history that you can reach out and touch. There are all kinds of working mechanical marvels here, like a phonograph, a pump organ, and a Victrola, that you can actually play. Almost all of the structure of the house doors, windows, flooring, etc. are original to 1889, and the innkeepers have decorated the house wonderfully with unique objects elaborate gigantic birdcages and a 100+ year old chess set, to name a few that give the impression that you have stepped back in time to the Victorian era. You just cannot find a place with this much character anywhere else. Of course, the place also has modern amenities like great air conditioning. Secondly, the innkeepers, Cesar and Ricky, are consummate hosts and go far, far out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of. They cook a delicious, ample breakfast every morning. Sometimes we hosted some visitors and Cesar would just stop by with some complimentary cupcakes. There is a pantry with wines, beer, coffee, tea, and snacks that you can access 24/7, and you can leave leftovers or put other beverages in the fridge as well. We had to mail a package over the weekend and Cesar took care of it while we were out and about. You can easily reach the hosts by text and they respond to your questions in minutes. Lastly, we felt safe and the innkeepers have taken all precautions in the COVID era. Folks wore masks guests and staff alike and it was very easy to socially distance on the property. We stayed in the Victorian Suite, which I highly recommend as it has a solarium, perfect for reading breaks or naps during the day. If you come here, please also visit the nearby Kusina Philly restaurant that Cesar also runs -- the Filipino food is delicious and safe indoor dining is available too if you want to escape the heat.
Highly recommended and charming! Our hosts couldn’t have been nicer, and the breakfasts were amazing. There was so much to see in this Victorian house! Spotlessly clean one of my top priorities. Location was convenient and Rick gave us detailed directions and suggestions as to what to see. Many amenities included such as wine, bottled water, snacks, teas, etc.
We stayed for two nights in the Garden Room. Cesar and Rick were excellent hosts and very accommodating. They were happy to make suggestions on things to do or places to eat and very helpful with navigating the public transit system. We enjoyed sitting out in the evening on the wrap around porch enjoying a cold drink. The rooms were lovely and the house is restored and decorated with Victorian pieces throughout.
