I came here for lunch and let full + satisfied! I did the $15 lunch combo which came with a half shrimp po’boy, cup of gumbo and drink. It was my first time having both items and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. And the banana pudding was so good! Will definitely be back next time I’m in Brooklyn!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
The questions abound when considering the Gumbo Brothers. Do they have gumbo? Po boys? Is it good? Is it authentic? Does the bread for the po boys taste like it came from New Orleans? Are they really brothers? The answer to all of those questions is a resounding yes, except maybe the brothers thing they appear to be best buds from LSU. The rest is affirmative. As the weather gets chillier my order typically tilts toward gumbo, but today I had to get the classic fried shrimp and fried chicken po boys. Awesome. Traditional bread. Sweet fried shrimp on the first and classic fried chicken on the second. Perfect mao/tomato/lettuce. Feels like I'm back in the garden district, even though I'm a NOLA wannabe not a denizen. This place is great. Go now.
This is the same one as the one in Nashville. Bottom line: this is delicious and one of the best gumbo in NYC. Everything they make here is sourced from the south.they even had a map telling you where they get everything from Menu is online. We had dine-in, but a lot of people were getting takeout. The restaurant is small and definitely will not fit groups bigger than four. The staff was super friendly and fast. They were bringing out take out orders super quickly! We had the fried chicken poboy sandwich, gumbo, beers and beignets! Everything was so delicious! The beers were awesome!
We had an epic Sunday at this authentic Louisiana Cajun Cuisine spot. Everything we ordered was on spot. Great Service. Chef Adam came out to make sure we are enjoying our selves and offered us some Abita beers. This is my definitely new favorite spot and I recommend any kind of Po' Boy, Gumbo and when in season the boil.
Great to have shine Cajun food like this in Brooklyn! No need to go into Manhattan now for good gumbo like Great Jones Cafe. It is legit here and much quicker and better service. Good prices, too. Po' boys found could use a little more seasoning, but otherwise my belly left happy. Will be back!
Thinking of having a Gumbo since it’s Mardi Gras. Google a bit, and the place showed up. The Seafood Gumbo is good, and they’re very generous on the shrimps! I ordered a pickup and don’t need to wait long. Staff is friendly.
Pretty good place to swing by for a quick meal to catch. The po'boys are nice and freshly prepared; although the seafood gumbo contained "mushy" shrimp that didn't offer a delightful texture. While thick in consistency and full of fillings, it was also overseasoned in my opinion. Nice decor space reminscent of New Orleans.
I found them and came fro Harlem just to try and see for myself. The place is inviting and open. I had the sausage and shrimp gumbo cup. I'm a greedy person and cup is deep so its more than enough especially if you pair it with the sandwich. Gumbo was good and filling. Shrimp po'boy had lots of shrimp and nice warmed bread. The boudin balls were soooooo good. Highly underrated. They are huge and the taste is not lacking at all. It's a must try. P.s. the had one of my face hot sauce crystal
I was here for an intimate YE and the Gumbo Bros did it well! I've never had this gumbo I've heard so much about so I was eager to try. I'll list what I ate in the order I ate it: A. Boudin Balls which I renamed rice balls were spicy and fall apart juicy. I was shocked I enjoyed this so much because I'm not a spicy eater. After I had everything else I even had one more balls they were so good. One more balls, hahahaha, anyway I digress. B. Hot honey fried chicken sandwich. Hot, crispy and so so tasty. Like mummy made them herself tasty. C. Seafood z'herbs gumbo was different. Like I said it was my first time trying...give me some time. D. The fried green tomatoes with the accompanying dip was a savory, delish treat! E. Chicken and sausage gumbo. Now by this time I'm super full and eating out of spite. I kid you not. I'm not registering what's happening in my mouth and stomach. F. The Peachy pig poboy or pulled pork sandwiche so so tender and juicy. G. Braised collard greens I found extremely tart. H. That banana pudding! My first. You've got to get to The Gumbo Bros and try yourself! You MUST! I. The New Orleans tunes playing in the background, so cool! Dem horns! The Gumbo Bros showed us such a wonderful time! Adam, his bro, Kai and the rest of their team worked tirelessly to make sure we wanted for nothing! Platter after platter plus we left a full boat of beer. Thank you so much to our Peter and Katey for putting together such a wonderful evening! You work hard to keep raising the bar and I for one feel really blessed to be on this food journey with you. Always happy to catch up with my fellow buds. The End.
My wife grew up on the Bayou. She says this is a good as her family's cooking back home. Amazing po' boys, red beans & rice, Gumbo and if you're lucky - they do a crawfish bowl occasionally.
