Home Depot is my go-to store for all my home improvement needs. The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly, ready to assist with any questions or projects. The store is well-organized, making it easy to find what I need. Whether I'm a seasoned DIYer or a beginner, I can always find the right tools, materials, and advice at Home Depot.
Until recently, I had been a loyal Home Depot fan for 20+ years. I had always appreciated the discount for veterans and service members, and it was known as the store where someone is always available to help you when you have a question. In the last few years, however, I've seen a radical decline in how this store treats its customers. I recently ordered 100ft of drainage pipe for delivery since it wouldn't fit in my car. When they delivered a completely different pipe from the one I specifically ordered, I spent nearly an hour on hold with customer service only to be told that they couldn't do anything about it. I then visited the Naamans Rd location to speak with their customer service, and I was treated like a second class citizen. They told me that I had to reorder the item, and that they would not refund me until I returned the *wrong* item that I had received. The whole reason I had it delivered in the first place was because it would not fit in my car, so how can I return it? Any other big-box store would immediately rectify the situation and send a replacement ASAP. Instead, I was punished for the company's mistake. There was no apology, and I was treated as if this was my problem, not theirs. This debacle is only one of many examples I could provide to illustrate the decline of Home Depot. I consistently find myself unable to locate anyone to help me when an item is missing even though the app says it is in stock. When I call about tool rental availability, I am usually placed on hold for up to an hour before they simply hang up on me in the hopes that I won't call back. This store is either severely understaffed or they simply just don't care about their customers. And don't get me started on their anti-shoplifting security measures. While I understand that they need theft protection, I should not need to wait 45 minutes for someone to unlock the cage to hand a $39 power tool to the cash register because I can't be trusted not to steal it. I recently started shopping at Lowe's and realized that their customer service is a COMPLETELY different experience; it's basically what Home Depot used to be. Sure their prices might occasionally be a little bit higher, but at least they treat their customers like human beings.
I live close to this Home Depot, and it's so convenient. I parked quickly and went inside to look for a specific part. I checked the customer service reviews online and asked for help finding the part. Luckily, it was in stock and easy to locate. The store has everything you need, and if they don't have something, the staff are accommodating in pointing you in the right direction. I was also impressed by the accessibility features, like abundant handicapped parking and doors that are easy to use for people in wheelchairs. I'd give this Home Depot a five-star rating for customer service and part availability.
I've been trying to schedule a pickup or van rental for over a week. The website says both truck and van are available here, but won't let me reserve either for today or literally any other day/time in the next month??. Tried calling the Claymont store several times this week and the phone just rang and rang for 30-40 times. No one ever picks up. Since no one is capable of the answering the phone and the website is supremely unhelpful, I give up. Don't bother trying to rent vehicles here.
I have been purchasing paint from Home Depot throughout the past 4 months intermittently for my new house. When Fred is there, he assists me quickly and successfully each time. He has even color-matched a color for me when my preferred color was unavailable. Tonight, when I went in for my typical paint order, Noori was disrespectful, slow, and prepared my order incorrectly. He seemed unwilling to help after I waited 10 minutes for him to take my order. He was not a welcoming presence. I’m hoping my next trip goes better.
Just came to pick up an order that we made online and we were in and out in less than 5 minutes. Our item's box had a slight tear in it but we'll see if that affected the item when we get home. We also asked where their leaf bags were. We couldn't find them or an employee near the area to help so we left without buying them
We were here last night. Saturday. The staff at this particular store are wonderful. We wanted something specific for Halloween and they had it. Thank you to those who went out of their way to help us.
I see alot of negative reviews about the paint section here. I have to give it up for Fred though. Fred is incredible and super helpful. If you have questions about painting/spackling go to him. He will figure it out. I used to frequent the Willow Grove Home Depot, lemme tell you the Grass isn't always Greener. That place was awful- and don't get me started on the home depot near Springfield. The staff at the Claymont Home Depot are usually incredibly helpful and willing to answer questions. The 4 star review is because the parking SUCKS. Anyway back to Fred- Give that guy a raise.
Not happy with service. Was in the lumber section when they suddenly shut down the doors to prevent anyone from leaving after their purchase and for no clear reason since it was still early in the day. Once I asked about it, I was told to go up to the front and ask for help. I left without making any purchase.
Two points. Apparently if I want to use cash to buy a $1700 online only minisplit system, it is against store policy. Second point. I had called numerous more than three times asking for cust service failed in the phone system, so dialed one. After asking in person when in person, I called again in the lobby watching the three bored cust service people. The phone did not ring at the service area.
