About

The Light Factory's mission is to inspire and empower our community through photography education and exhibitions. Visit our site at http:\\www.lightfactory.org

Story

For over four decades, The Light Factory's commitment to photography and film has revealed itself in many ways: we’ve taught countless newbies how to compose a photo; we, along with our members, have gazed breathlessly at high art that has hung on our gallery walls; and we’ve steered ambitious projects within schools to spread our love of these indispensable visual arts to local students. Our love of photography and film is close to our hearts, and we’ll never stop striving to spread our love as far and as wide as possible.

While we’re proud of our past, we’re not a nonprofit that rests on its laurels. We believe that the issues affecting our local community should fuel the projects we pursue, and that the impact of those projects should extend far beyond our walls. That’s why community engagement has become a key focus of The Light Factory.

My 2nd visit in about 2 years. I had never been to a photo art show, until this, so cannot compare. It was very interesting.
Charlotte's home for photography! They have wonderful classes and workshops, a gallery, and you can even rent studio space from them!
I've been a huge fan of this place for the last 15 years. Amazing exhibits by real heavy hitters national and international--but they still make room for an annual show of their members' work which contains a lot of great local work and the occasional short run student show. As a photographer, I've really enjoyed the classes and workshops. They have a wide variety--from beginner classes with basic dSLR to traditional darkroom and alt processing.
Went here for a studio shoot. Pretty professional and I've heard this art shows are well put together!
I took one of the Light Factory's classes, and it was well worth it. The level of instruction was top notch and I got more out of this class than I have from others around town. Thanks to the Light Factory, and I look forward to the next class.
Great space and even better people! Can't wait to take a class here. They also have wonderful photography exhibitions.
What a waste of effort. This place keeps having to move from lack of support. Duh!! Get a clue! Could it be....the art they choose to exhibit?! Well yeah! They need to get out of their smugness and get serious. I know a great art collector who could curate fantastic photo exhibits. But...he's not in their smug circle.
They had a small and nice photography exhibition from some very talented photographers.
Great place, learned a lot about photography today. Thanks Carey.
Best photography exhibitions and workshops! Great place to meet others interested in serious photography.
