The Mermaid Cafe

Stumbled on this little gem when on a dog walk. And what a stunner. Great coffee roasted on site, if you love coffee be there when they roast it, that aroma… I have never tasted such great tasting coffee that has a bitter twist to it and you can tell it’s fresh. Local farm fresh milk/dairy available. Food is locally sourced and all made in house. The bacon baguette was crammed full of meat!. Although it may appear cramped when busy, everything is comfortable and you can take you dogs. Seating outside available to watch the hustle and bustle of the marina works however, you have to pay for the parking. First 1/2 free then £1 per hour after. This is a fine little hang out whilst on a stroll or paddle.

Great News, great news…. MERMAIDS COFFEE SHOP now back ‘in residence’ at Universal Marina. After transitioning through a mobile coffee outlet from a van they are now back in their previous building… just like the ‘good old days’ …. Same comfortable seating, same excellent coffee and cakes. Great coffee and cakes! Brownies to die for ! Lovely location and friendly staff! Also, they roast their own coffee beans, which are for sale! I’ve just had one of the best mocha’s ever, made with their own chocolate sauce What’s not to like!

This was our first visit to Mermaids, super bacon baguette, lovely coffee, staff really helpful and friendly, great if you like dogs. fantastic log fire, really warm and cosy on a cold day. Will definitely be visiting again.Food: 5/5

The tastiest flat white and with river hamble views - what's not to like. Highly recommend Mermaids for great coffee and so perfectly placed for a river stroll pit stop.

Lovely little cafe at the Universal Marina, decided to have lunch after a long walk with an ex colleague. Quick friendly service and reasonable prices. Food was excellent, highly recommend and will visit again.

Gorgeous coffee! Just the best. Friendly staff and nice, cosy interior. No WiFi, but apart from that it's pretty perfect Parking: Free for 30 mins. Dietary restrictions: Usually a gluten free cake option.

We adore this amazing place. Service is fabulous and food, coffee is equally brilliant! Well behaved dogs allowed. The owners have got it just right and we can't wait for their business expansion!
