The Secret Group, on Polk street just off downtown. A nice, small venue that host concerts and comedians. Tonight I saw the Destroy Boys, a girl lead band from California. The venue was sold out, holding about 200 people. I like that it's non-smoking, and not too loud. Appeared to have ample security. A nice venue for an intimate concert.
Place was different than what I'm used to. In a good way. They played great music and the karaoke was fun! Apparently they have different venues. Check it out, you won't regret it.
Good looking venue. When I flew in for a show, the venue started 45m-1 hr earlier than on the ticket. I missed my favorite band. I informed the two door persons, and they did not seem to care. Have two star review on me boys. Start shows when people have actually arrived, a-holes.
First of all, I'd like to start off by saying the staff here are SUPER friendly. I was new to Houston and they made me feel like I was a regular. Even though it was a New Year's party and everyone was certainly rushed, the bartenders got everyone taken care of in no time at all. The drinks were also unique and they had numerous different cocktails on tap. AND THEY WERE GOOD. I got to try several different ones and was happy with every single one of them. The music was great, they certainly know how to host a party. 10/10, would reccommend.
Comedy club with 3 different performance rooms. Great place to see experienced comedians and also newer comedians just getting started. If you want to try stand up comedy The Secret Group has several nights open mic, open microphone where beginner comedians get a chance to perform on stage. Metered street parking and parking lots very close by. Parking in the lot was$10. Street parking depends on what time it is. One time I paid a couple of bucks and another time it was free. I've been several times and it's always fun
I don’t normally leave bad reviews, or go into great detail about my displeasures about an experience. However, as a former bartender, server, manager within the food/bev/ent industry I feel compelled to share my thoughts. We came for a comedy show and were killing time in the club area - 2000’ music mostly. Waited almost 15 minutes at the bar for a drink. It was not busy, but there was only one bartender for that entire time. 15 minutes. 1 bartender. Crowd of about 20. Saturday night in downtown Houston. The other bartender finally appeared and when I began to ask him for a draft drink he said it was “to far and I’m not walking down there. Go to the other bartender.” It wasn’t like the bar was crowded. I was once a bartender. If I told a customer no, I’m not getting you a drink because I don’t want to walk 20 feet to pour it I would have been fired from my job. Just not a pleasant experience from the lack of ability to work a crowd to the absent mess of the staff to the dismissiveness of the customer. We left and decided to just not go to the show. We know there are many other places to check out the local stand up comedy. I encourage you to do the same if you appreciate bare minimum customer service.
I hosted a charity comedy event at The Secret Group and had a wonderful experience. Staff was courteous and friendly with all our guests. Facilities were accommodating to all of our needs for our production. I would recommend visiting this venue for comedy and music events they hold there every night of the week.
Good, small venue. The stage being short made for a very intimate show. Good sound mixing. Stage is in a separate room from the main bar, but has a smaller bar in the same room. Main bar is well stocked with liquor and has a rotating draught selection. Reasonably priced drinks. Fire sale draught, $3. Paid parking nearby, or street parking if you can find it. Clean bathrooms. Photo booth in the main bar room.
I had an absolute fun time here with my friends! We went for emo karaoke lol! The DJ was fun and super laid back! It was awesome! So many people just having a good time and enjoying themselves! It got a little rowdy at one point but the DJ handled everything super chill and it was all in good fun! The doorman was also very sweet and welcoming! Over all it was a good time! I would love to come back for another karaoke night!
The secret group. it's a great place to have a drink and laugh, here you will have a very nice time except for the tinder dates that are just going to talk and talk like cockatoos, no offense..., you can discover good new comedians every night.
