This is a fantastic place to eat. Be sure to get a reservation. Tina and her husband own it. He is the Chef she runs the front of the house. Only 10 tables. Try to dress up a LOT please. Men will feel best with a coat and tie but if no tie you may not be the only one. Menu changes almost daily. Website says price fix but that is not true. All a la carte now. We started with 3 apps. All were fantastic. She had raviolis served in a large bowl. See photo. I had Cheese Souffle which was Guerryre and superb. I also had the onion tarte which was excellent. For dinner she had the lobster special. OMG was it divine. I had the rabbit and it was super. All dark meat and so delicious. 7 desserts were available. We had 3 but the super duper stand out was the coconut cake. About half way through dinner we noticed a very sharply dressed gentleman eating alone so I went over and asked him to join us for dessert. He did and we had a lovely conversation for about an hour. Turns out he lives a few houses down for this UES location and goes there quite often. He is a retired lawyer known to many from one of the largest firms in NYC but we will not post his photo as we did not get his permission. Suffice it to say he gave us a lot of background on this place and it was all good. Tina is one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to wine and the Chef is among New York's elite. This is a fun place that is like eating in a secret high end family home with deluxe chef. If you can get a table it is well worth it. PLEASE DRESS UP. Check out all of our reviews. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 7 million views in 2021 and we thank you for that. TINA is very diligent and professional. She has gone above and beyond. Very impressive, Even a handwritten note sent to our business. Bit creepy since she had to google us. It may be a trend like Fleming by Le Bilbouquet. I know the time and a lot of people love this place. We wanted to as well. It was my B Day. We were seated and the first thing was a musty small like wet basement. Lighting is on the grayish tone. Table setting is crisp and simple. Tina is know for her wine knowledge. We started with Comos. They were so tart from the lime or sour mix that it burned my throat. The bread is claimed to be home made but honestly seemed like a par cooked frozen roll. Ive seen better at the fancy food show. The menu pitch was all about tomatoes. My salad was over dressed and loaded with red onion. Now Raw red onion is not refined and over powered another farm to table freshness of the ingredients. Look at my photo of my salad at Marea review to see how they compare. Next arrive my fish not cooked and raw inside. Tina said no surprise its they way the chef cooks it. Steak was well good. We stoped after the entrees. Tina asked us about our meal and we explained our thoughts She was very kind and generous but it was not the point of our conversation. Most people dont have the critical thinking of a dinning standard, and going out if fine and they dont have to cook. Please go and try. Tina will take very good care of you.
The Simone is a secluded and sophisticated little UES gem. The atmosphere is distinguished and welcoming. The staff goes above and beyond to make the dining experience enjoyable. The menu is well planned. I also liked that there is a dress code which set the tone for an elegant dinner.
Uhh... Chef and Wife have one of the best restaurants in NYC. Don't need to go into super detail but the food is absolutely incredible and matched up with a fantastic beverage program. If you like classic French cuisine and fantastic food, try and get a reservation. You'll need to call most likely.
What an absolutely splendid dining experience. My wife and I went for our 10th anniversary because we wanted delicious food, well priced interesting wine, and great service. We got all that and so much more. Food was phenomenal: perfectly cooked venison and rabbit in different preparations, wonderful terrine, and fantastic sweetbreads. Varied, serious, well priced wine list. We had a bottle of 2005 vouvray and unexpectedly a 2011 rioja. Wife owner poured us some other interesting wines and chef husband owner talked with us for 10 minutes. Comped some dishes. This is a 12-table family run place with personable and attentive servers. Go for a special occasion and you too might find yourself closing it down with the delightful staff after an exceptional evening.
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The food was superb, but it was the service that made the evening so special. There was nothing that was wanted that was not anticipated by the wait staff or by Tina.
The Simone is hands down one of the best restaurants in the city. The food is exquisite, the chef's wife, who runs the front of house, is an INCREDIBLE somelier seriously, don't order your own drinks, ask for pairings with your meal, and the service feels simultaneously luxurious but also warm and personal. Try the blue cheese souffle and get the chocolate pots de creme for dessert - you'll thank me.
Wonderful evening dining with family in a beautiful quaint Simone. Everything from the moment we entered was exceptional. Tina greeted us and we were seated promptly. The service was extraordinary and the food was superb. I had duck, other patrons had lobster. Exquisite presentation. Appetizers were to die for! Please leave room for dessert because they are homemade. Very enjoyable evening a must visit for everyone.
We’ve wanted to go to The Simone since one of our friends read a wonderful review. The restaurant is no more than a 5 minute walk from where we live. Being that Covid has precluded our visiting some of our friends who are owners of restaurants we love it’s hard to even dream of going to a new one that has limited seating. So yesterday we had dear friends coming to have dinner and instead of making dinner we decided to call The Simone and we’re glad we did. We listened to Tina recite the menu and before she got to the desert part we said this is what we’re doing. Both my friend and I called Tina and we placed our orders. When they went to pick dinner up they were warmly greeted with lovely glasses of wine that were not only refreshing but quite good! When they arrived we all emptied the bags and spread out the offerings in front of us. I didn’t take pictures like I normally do because I didn’t feel like I would do the dishes the justice they deserved. We had tuna tartare, pork trotter, Brussel sprouts, sweet breads, and a very refreshing mixed salad. All were expertly prepared and were delicious. I’m not sure if the bread was homemade or not but it was delicious. For entrees we had the flounder and pheasant 2 of each, both wonderfully presented and delicious. The deserts which were selected by our friends while at the restaurant were a wonderful way to end our meal. We scored a reservation at the one outdoor table for next month which we are all Looking forward too. Chip and Tina very well done!!
One of the best dining experiences I've had in my 26 years of life. The service was beyond excellent! The food and wine pairings are out of this world. If I was making bank I'd stop by monthly to treat the missus. Unfortunately I am not making bank and I have no missus so I will stick with visiting for special celebrations that I'm invited to.
