I visited The Sundown Pub last night and can confidently say that this will be a new watering hole for me on the reg. Strong drinks, fantastic service, reasonable prices, fun atmosphere and solid food. I have nothing but positive things to say. I can’t wait to return for soul food Saturday’s! Cheers to a new chapter for this classic neighborhood dive.
It was very comfortable, positive vibes and friendly and pleasant interactions, conversation, and service. The food was said to be fulfilling, delicious, and presentation was of good quality. I'm the cook of this event and I was very pleased the customers were satisfied. I thank you for your patronage and attendance. And most , your positive and happy spirit.
Our long time local suddenly had a Soul Saturday Menu that we decided to try and we were so glad that we did. Perfection. Absolute perfection on a plate: fried chicken, Mac & cheese, greens, yams and cornbread. Immaculately seasoned and perfectly cooked, this plate was a revelation. What in the world was happening at our local dive? How was this possible?? We were then approached by a couple who asked us how we liked our meal and then told us that they bought the bar. They're from New Orleans and brought mom in to cook some food. Forget screen door, pine state is garbo, montage is a distant bland memory....the future is now. This is the new Sundown. We are so excited to see what our local has planned for the future. We are here for it. UPDATE: Back 6 days later and the plates are nearly sold out. The vibe is en pointe with classic and modern R&B playing and loads of family present. The menu is going to start rotating, so come in for NoPo via NoLa soul food and your brand new neighborhood family.
Lost all the vibes. Used to be a good neighborhood spot, who knows what's up next for it, new owners bought the name/bar usually never a good sign. Doubt it's still called Sundown Pub in a another year..Food: 1/5
Lovely, friendly bartenders; rotating kitchen menu that has fantastic offerings; very chill vibe.Food: 5/5
Had a big review, but it doesn't matter anymore. This was a community bar where you could expect people who read semi-regularly. They sold to new owners this morning, so I don't know now. We'll see, looks like they own other bars, too. Updates later, hopefully. [Edit: It seems mostly the same, but the vibe has crashed, and I don't know why.]
Sundown has the best bartenders and the best drinks! If you're looking for a good drink for a great price come here. Plus free shows!!Service: 5/5
