This place is great! I've been multiple times and it's a consistently amazing meal every time. I've tried many items and have yet to find anything on the menu that isn't tasty. I'd highly recommend Verandah, it's definitely one of the best Indian food restaurants in Baltimore!
Okay, the place we were looking for was gone but this place was nearby. Sounded interesting so we stumbled in to find a food paradise. I do recommend the small plates because they are all so good. It’s byob, but a liquor store nearby. The ginger lemonade was amazing. Staff is courteous and efficient, prices are reasonable, we got out for less than 40 a person, not including tip.
Absolutely incredible food, and the staff is delightful! Between two of us, we had 5-6 plates and ate literally every bite that we could. It was delicious and we look forward to going back ASAP. The lemonades are very interesting and yummy too! I personally loved the ginger/mint one. Super refreshing and a decent size.
My fiance and I dined here on a busy Sunday evening. We sat at one of the outdoor tables. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about The Verandah. Everything was absolutely marvelous. The cuisine was divine, and the family who runs the restaurant and serves the tables is extremely friendly and welcoming. We ordered six different small plates which they specialize in, and each and every one was unique and delicious. We started with the paneer kofta and the samosa chaat -- both were among the best paneer and samosa dishes I've ever had the pleasure of eating. We then moved on to chilli chicken and amritsari fish fry, which completely blew our expectations for those dishes, and were extremely delicious. We rounded off with vada paav and kheema paav, which were also excellent, though beware that the vada paav is served with roasted serrano peppers which are extremely spicy! Every single dish blew our minds and were among the best indian cuisine we've ever eaten. The family is also extremely friendly and engaged us in memorable dialogue about the various menu items and their pleasure to cook and serve them. I would strongly recommend The Verandah, and we will most certainly be back frequently. Also, it's BYOB, which is a really great bonus for a small sort of neighborhood restaurant like this.
Great place to enjoy a quick bite and a drink outside. Ask for the housemade chilli oil to add some delicious spice to your meal. They don't serve alcohol but you can bring your own. The wine source is right around the corner so make a quick stop there before. Presentation and food are both great and the service was a nice compliment to them.
We had eaten here a couple times and really liked the food, so decided to ask them to cater our small wedding. Everything we had was excellent, and very good attention to detail too they even printed us out a nice menu for the day. The owner is friendly and easy to work with. Highly recommend!
Has become a new Saturday routine to eat at Varendah now. Big fan of their small plates and ginger mint lemonade. Absolutely tasty and unbelievably fresh. The best Trini doubles and Vada Pav I had in the East coast, and amazing service too. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.but not so great entrées.
Takeout: 0/5 Food: 1/5 Honestly, we should of known what to expect when we went in to pick up and no one was dinning in on a Friday night. I'm not sure if they are buying these reviews or if Verandah was having an off night, but I've had authentic Indian food and this is not it. Chana Masala is the most basic of dishes and this tasted NOTHING like a tradition chana masala. It tasted like apple butter and canned chickpeas. There was no depth of spices or depth of flavor. I've had dozens of chana masalas and this tasted no where near close to what you'd expect. I'm still puzzled on how they were so far off base? Not to mention, it's $16 and I was given less than 2 cups. My friend got the chicken curry and it was half oil. We get it, most Indian food is oily, but this was literally half oil. 1 star because the rice was pretty good and the appetizer wasn't bad. To be real, I'd give 0/5 solely due to the fact they charge a 15% service charge on top of the bill and then ask for a tip? My question is, why? What service are we paying for that you are providing when it's takeout? We bought two entrees and one appetizer and it was $80. I kind of want my money back, but I will settle for never ordering from here again. Maybe it's only like this for takeout, but I would save yourself the money, but mostly I'd save yourself the disappointment.
A friend and I grabbed dinner at Verandah on a Saturday night. We ordered 4 small plates and everything was delicious! I can’t wait to go back and more of the menu. The service was also great. Dietary restrictions: The menu is very well labeled for vegan, gluten free and dairy free!
Wow I came here a few days ago for the first time and this place is really amazing! Every dish was just so flavourful. The dishes came on cute colourful plates and the vibe was very fitting with Hampden. I’ll definitely be coming back. Best Indian food I’ve ever had!!
