This place is top-notch. Everything I ordered was easily some of the best food I've had since moving to the city. I ordered a 6' cake for a friends birthday, and they were able to get it done in such short notice. The cake was moist and quite dense but amazingly flavorful all the way through. The entire party was surprised when I told them it was vegan and gluten free. When I stopped by to pick up the cake, I got myself some lunch. I ordered the carrot lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel was certainly fresh and homemade. It tasted almost like a sourdough. The cashew cream cheese was creamy and rich. I would have loved the portions to be a little larger and have the "cream cheese" be a slightly thicker, but that's just me. I also got a Samoa Bar, which was no doubt one of the best desserts I've ever had in my life. The texture of the chocolate and the coconut flavor was unbeatable. The Golden Milk was great as well; if you order it, make sure to mix it a little before drinking. I was unfortunately in a rush so I couldn't enjoy as much as I wanted. I will be back -- with everyone I know ;
Rating is purely based on the food, as someone who doesn't typically buy gluten-free products. I went with a girlfriend who is both vegan and gluten-free to try this place, as she remembered enjoying it and I've never been, and thought it was a cute, if not slightly cramped, little establishment. The walls are lined with art and there were staff all about the kitchen, baking and cleaning and busying themselves with activity. I can only assume there are regular, loyal customers at Harmony Bakery, since many people came in and chatted with staff and, I believe, the owner, greeting each on a first-name basis. In terms of food, I ordered the Samoa Bar and the Cinnamon Bun. Each was gluten-free and only the Cinnamon Bun was heated up the Samoa Bar would have melted. They look delicious and I did enjoy the flavors of both but, despite the Cinnamon Bun being heated, I found them to be lacking a crucial soft, "gooey" punch. The Cinnamon Bun was still hard and, when I tried to slice into it, it broke apart or crumbled. Again, it tasted good, but it lacked in gooeyness. The Samoa Bar was also tasty but, similarly, lacked the softer texture expected from pastries like these. I would still recommend trying the place out, especially if you're vegan/gluten-free and enjoy small bakeries where you'll likely see regular customers and staff. They seem to enjoy what they do and they make their pastries with joy. Personally, however, I still prefer pastries with gluten, but I would recommend eating your purchases immediately if you'd like to give Harmony Bakery and Cafe a try. What I ordered was a bit too hard, to my taste, for what a Cinnamon Bun or chocolate/coconut bar classically would be. Again, this was my experience and I would still recommend trying the place out for yourself. 3/5 stars from me.
Great customer service! Awesome food! Cool location! ....but the outdoor seating in November is a no go. We tried the quiche and the Samoa. So, incredibly delicious and filling. Can't wait to sample other menu items. Update: coconut cake is fluffy with crisp ends, perfect with coffee! The Browne has great chocolate content and just the right amount of walnuts. It's far too sweet though.
Love their food! Everything is gluten free and vegan. Their homemade vegan cheeses are the best and I love how easy it is to online order and pick up. When I had a question about ingredients sugar they stopped what they were doing to help me everyone was busy prepping ingredients and answer my complicated question sorry and I really appreciated it and was able to get some more goodies, that I had initially thought I couldn’t have! Love this place, even my fiancé who is not vegan and gluten free loves their food also.
Fantastic vegan and gluten free bakery! I loved their butternut squash tart. You can tell it's gluten free, but cake is still good. Thick and rich. Setting could be better.
Absolute Gem!!!! I got the black bean empanada, a chickpea curry tart, 2 cinnamon rolls, and some pumpkin cake. All were delicious with the standouts being the gooey cinnamon roll and mouth-watering black bean empanada. I had to resist going back again later in the day. worth noting, I didn't think customer service was great. the servers were kind of rude multiple members of my party agreed. I understand it could have been an off day for them, and I don't want this to detract from the review. I'm still giving the food 5 stars, but I say that one should just be potentially ready for a non ideal interaction with the staff.
This little bakery in Baltimore is your go to for breakfast or if you want to treat yourself to her homemade desserts. Everything is made by scratch with love from the owner and it shows in her food. It’s hard to say no to just one of her savory/sweet treats. Next time you want a dynamite vegan spot, this is a MUST! You will be very happy. Excellent customer service, friendly staff, clean spot. Doesn’t get much better than that!
We are so lucky to have Harmony Bakery. So delicious, so consistent, so fair in pricing, so sweet to my dog; I can't say enough about this place. I'm not gluten free and was as skeptical as can be. And, the food* is* different, in the same sort of way that vegan substitutes are different, especially those not made from processed ingredients. So, don't get the bagel with lox thinking this is going to taste exactly like a white flour bagel with dairy cream cheese and smoked salmon. What your getting is a vegan, gluten free take on it, and it's AMAZING. I'd order from Harmony every day, if I could. Suspend what you think these things should taste like and you'll be blown away. Today I ordered the large kale salad for the first time. I'll definitely be ordering this once a week. You get a full takeout container of the most beautiful, fresh kale tossed in their incredible cashew dressing and capers for $10! This will last me days. Other favorites include the quiche, the Pesto and mushroom bagel melt, the cinnamon rolls... You'll never go wrong with any of their sweets, but my favorites are the short bread cookies with jam.
I just LOVE this place. Everything is freshly made and amazingly tasty. Today, for the first time I had the Carrot Lox and Cashew Cream Cheese on an Everything Bagel. It was so good!!! I also had the iced Golden Milk for the first time. I usually get it hot. It was good just the same. Haven't tasted he Blueberry Crumb Gluten-free donut pictured yet but I've had their donuts before and they're delicious. They go great with tea and coffee...and dipping. I'm definitely a repeat customer. Shout out to Lisa and her hard-working team over there! Lisa is a good spirit. Always pleasant and welcoming. Not to mention.. They're repeated participants in the summer and winter Maryland Vegan Restaurant Weeks.
We found this place from my “Find me Gluten Free” app and I’m so glad we did. We first enjoyed the great mock crab cakes and kale Caesar salad, and then we enjoyed our baked goods, and they were all awesome! We took some for the next day of course too. Staff was so friendly and helpful too.
