My boyfriend and I went to this place yesterday and I couldn't believe it. The staff were very rude and stuck up and the prices were insane. You won't get a steak here for under $45 and they have the nerve to charge $55 for a 9 ounce elk steak. The restaurant is far from upscale and has a horrible smell. The menu options are very limited. I ordered a sweet tea and it was the worst I've ever had, it tasted like simple syrup with an aftertaste. We paid for our drinks and left. According to our server, they get a lot of that. Go figure.

Weak a $$ steak, it was the size of small dinner plate and just as thick. AKA thin! Where's the beef? Not worth it. Gravy was so so and the salad was small. The blue cheese was awesome. The service was good. Food was fast because the steak took 30 seconds to cook.

The Virginian Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants in the region. The food, atmosphere, and the staff make it a memorable experience. Throw in the entertainment and history in the attached Occidental Saloon and Hotel, this is a must visit restaurant.

Oh my this place is delicious!! We had the lamb sliders and those are a complete ten! I had the scallops my son had a filet. Top notch gourmet food here. I only gave 4 stars because the veggi portions are small. My sons steak came with an order of asparagus that consisted of 3 spears :) Mine came with summer squash it was REALLY good but the squash serving was about 2 tablespoons. No where in Wy can compare with the food. If you want healthy real food cooked by an actual chef look no further! Im suprised this place doesnt have a higher star rating its classy real food :) If you have a tight budget and dont mind processed food you wont be happy.

Our meals this evening were truly delicious. Our waitress (Maggie), provided exceptional service, in a very professional, yet warmly welcoming manner.
While the hostess gave the impression of being new, our evening was the perfect way to end a day attending a friend's memorial service in Lander. Highly recommended!
For those traveling to Laramie, stopping for a meal, and a night in Medicine Bow, the Owen Wister Suite is a very special place to celebrate. Mr. Wister wrote most of his classic western "The Virginian" in Medicine Bow, but based some memorable characters on people he met in Buffalo @ the Occidental Hotel.
The other period classic establishments from that era, are the Sheridan Inn, and the Cheyenne Club. Make the 'Old West' come alive, with tours, movies, books, and audio tours. Our Wyoming community, happens to have really long Main Streets, but friendly folks.
