The Whole Bowl

Whole Bowl on 23rd always has the best food and service! It never disappoints and I go here 2 or 3 times a week. Check out the hot sauce variety and lil dog biscuits. Thanks Whole Bowl!

I'm giving the Whole Bowl only 3 stars based on my last experience. This chain of food carts has been around for a long time. I used to walk out of my way downtown to get lunch here. The food concept is perfect, the meal was always great... until. It had been a long time since I had stopped by a Whole Bowl. This time on 23rd, I noticed that they had a cart here. I was excited and ordered a bowl. However... when I got home and started in on it, I had to stop. The rice was rock hard to the point where I thought I had just bitten down on several pebbles. I thought I had broken my teethe. So, My review for my last experience at the 23rd location would be ZERO stars. But my lingering love for the old days bumps it up to Three.

I was a frequent at the Hawthrone location and a big fan of the food and service there. This was my first time at the 23rd location. I was surprised to see one person working, it was pretty busy but as a person who works customer service I understood. I ordered a coke and a big bowl, and tipped two dollars in cash. However, when I was leaving I was accused of basically stealing, even though I did indeed get charged, and my bank account says so too. It seemed like an attempt to embarrass me, when I told the man I did in fact pay, he yelled that he’ll “See at the end of the night” he also accused me of getting more than I ordered, which was also confusing. I think more staff would be good.

Bowls are great and a good value. Staff is awesome on the daily. It is my go to for quick, healthy and delicious lunch.Food: 5/5

It’s not bad but the cold ingredients significantly bring down the temperature. There’s only one menu item, fyi. I had assumed cafe yumm stole their bowl from here, but I saw it’s the other way around. Cafe yumm has more than one option and they’re not secretive about the sauce ingredients. This place makes you sign a sauce NDA!

Great amount of tasty food for a low price which is hard to find in portland! Every time I’ve visited the service has been great and fast, I get my food in less than 2minutes so it’s great for lunch breaks.

Great quality and quantity for the right price! Quick and relatively healthy choice for a lunch outside in the Summer!
