We booked a Hyundai Santa Fe or a similar vehicle, but when we arrived to pick it up, they only had a GM model available. I asked if it had adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, and the agent assured me it did, saying, "Of course, it’s a 2024 model." However, the car didn’t have either feature, and it also lacked blind spot monitoring. Since we rented the car for a road trip, this significantly impacted our experience during the few days of our vacation. I’m left wondering what "similar" really means—shouldn’t it refer to more than just the size, including features like technology and fuel efficiency?
I tried their "pass the counter" product, entered all the info and paid on line. When I arrived at the airport the app indicated there was a problem and that I needed to drop by the counter. Total fail! The staff behind the counter was in slow motion and you could tell they absolutely did not care in the least about you or your time. All of the other rental companies handled their rental reservation lines just fine while we waited and waited and waited! Horrible customer service and very frustrating experience. Avoid the issues yourself and choose any other rental company here.
I made a car rental pick up at 11:30pm since they gave that option. Turns out they were closed at 11pm. I came and it was close. I talked to the people next door and they said some people had the same issue. They said they’ll hold the car up to 8hrs. What am i suppose to do? Stay at the airport till open time. Why not make the change on your end? Make no sense to have that option when there’s no service. Never again.
Their “skip the line” check in feature only works if they have enough vehicles of the size/type you specified when you made the reservation. I waited 2+ hours to “choose my car” on the web because it reloaded every 15 minutes to tell me there were no available vehicles. However once I went the location, without having “checked in” I was immediately given a vehicle. Car was clean, and in good repair. Drop off at the airport was a hassle.
4.5 stars really. Could've been five stars, but weird system policies knocked it down to 4.5 for me. Ari was so helpful at the counter and got his the vehicle we needed, so thank you to her! I felt compelled to leave a review because usually the only time people leave reviews are when they are mad. However, Thrifty saved me when I was in a bad situation. I originally had a booking with Enterprise My normal go-to, but despite their website and my confirmation email saying the car could be driven into Canada, they told me no Canada was off limits. Yes, we were driving from SoCal to Canada and back My friend and I went to every rental counter trying to find one that would allow us to drive to Canada and have the 7+ passenger vehicle available. Thrifty was able to confirm that Canada was okay their website also clarifies that it is. The only issue is that they couldn't rent me a 7+ same day, but I could pick it up the next morning at 6:30 AM never mind the fact that we could see the car in the lot that day, but that's just weird system policy. It had to be "cleaned". It wasn't ideal because we had planned to be on the road already, but we booked through AAA because they offered a better rate than the guy at the counter could. The kicker here is that AAA lets you choose the 7 passenger vehicle, but not the "plus" class of SUV. When you look at the fine print, you'll see that. Basically, the difference was how much cargo space. Because we were planning to camp, we had to fit a lot of gear in the car, so we needed the biggest available. Ari was at the counter, and she was super nice and helpful. She did upsell us a lot, ha, but we needed the extra cargo space. However, she was nice enough to make us feel we were getting a deal as she "cut" the price down. Still we ended up spending an extra 800 dollars, but Ari was super helpful and nice. She let us go see the cars before we decided so that way we could gauge how much cargo space was in each SUV. Everything went smooth from there. The drop off was easy, and the Hertz workers who received us were nice. I was careful with the car and even cleaned it out before returning it. I don't like to tempt car rental companies with a chance to charge me more. I did like that I didn't feel pressured to buy things like extra insurance. I wasn't prepared to pay that much for a ten day rental. The car was in great condition and easy drive. Overall, Thrifty surprised me how good it was so long as they don't hit me with a mysterious charge a month later.
Easy spot to rent vehicles from. Decent selection. Perfect for leaving airport straight to Rental shop to pick up. Never had to leave the airport in Ontario. As much as we travel , that’s always a plus to simplify our traveling experience. Easy pick up and drop off. In and out in minutes!
Would give 0 stars if I could. Reserved a car for a same-day pick-up. Arrived at 2 and waited in line for 20 minutes to pick up. A representative came out and told us that same day pick-ups would now not be available for another 4-5 hours, delaying my plans entirely. By the time I expected to pick up my car, cheaper alternatives had closed. This has delayed my trip reservations, required a complete turn around of our plans, and we may not even be able to check into our hotel for several hours now, wasting the time we had reserved our stay. They say they will forward the feedback to management for review but I doubt there is any work being done to improve service.
I sat here for at least, yes I started a stop watch at one point over an hour and a half and with a LOT of people behind me in line. Their fun little line tape that says "best rates" is at the expense of your sanity. I am lucky I got here quicker than anyone in the line nearly out the door before me. F this place. Do yourself a favor and pay the $x more and not add a "bajillion" hours to your travel time. Every other rental company had empty lines.... it's worth it....
They were so rude. It was awful. We reserved through AAA bought the insurance that was offered through the app. Only to get there and find out they didn't accept it. Then, they didn't have what we reserved. We reserved a big suv. They said we reserved a midsized even though we had pics and the reservation on our phones. They said it would cost us an extra $800 for what we wanted. It's like a bait and switch scam. The woman helping us was so awful and didn't have any respect for us or her coworkers. She was rude to them also. The whole experience was just a mess, and I won't ever choose them again.
Went on expedia for a fuel efficient rental. When i got to the counter at Thrifty, they wanted to give me a car they wanted to get rid of. I asked for another car and was told they were sold out but could change cars for $40. Sold out or upsell? That's why they wanted to give me what they wanted. I cancel my reservation and rebooked and was offered another type of car that was available with Thrifty for the same price as my previous reservation. This is bull because the clerk didn't bother to try an accommodate me. She basically said, "Take what we give you or cancel your reservation." This is the 1st time I get treated like this at Thrifty.
