I was finally able to try this local gem. After hearing nothing but great things about it. I got my hands on a Tip-Top Pot Roast Sandwich, which was absolutely amazing . Very flavorful . I added some grilled onions to the sandwich making it a 11/10 sandwich. The fries were on the money as well. The restaurant was very dark inside but clean. Our server was very nice and friendly. Very fast service as well. If you are ever in the area I highly recommend stopping in and trying some good food. I wouldn’t mind coming back and trying more items on the menu!
Definitely a Columbus staple love stopping here to grab some Ohio nachos. Sandwiches are tasty as well. Lots of beers on tap and a good cocktail list. Has a dive bar sort of feel with a great food and personable staff.Food: 5/5
So my boyfriend and I were in Columbus for a concert, so before we went to the concert we needed to eat. After driving 3 hours we needed food quick. When I saw how close this place was to our hotel we thought to give it a try. When I tell you i was surprised by the food and drinks I was SURPRISED. The drinks were so good I got "commit to be lit" and got a cheese steak sandwich with sweet potato fries and the spicy mayo. It was one of the places I've gone to get a cheese steak sandwich! My bf got the fish and chips and he thought it was great. If we go back to that area we will definitely be going here.
Tip Top was recommended by the hotel because it seems that most restaurants in the area are closed on Sunday. After seeing so many reviews, I ordered the pot roast and fried green beans. Both came out at the same time instead of a starter and entree. The pot roast's flavor was good but there was a lot of fat on the meat. The green beans were average for fried green beans. Good, but nothing special. When I arrived, it was really crowded with groups standing against the wall waiting for tables. I sat at the bar and the waitress was very sweet but seemed a little overwhelmed. She said they just got a new computer system and she was struggling with it. Even so, she was attentive and helpful.
I started with the corn chowder which, for me, was a tad spicy, but I like things really spicy. A corn chowder was very well dressed, meaning they top it with things such as green onions, some crispy things, some cheese. So my mouth exploded with tasty goodness and fabulous textures. Wow! This was amazing. I followed this up with beef stroganoff. I think this might be the best beef stroganoff I've ever had in a restaurant. There was some sour cream on the side to mix in, which is something I really like. They had topped it with fork tender roast beef. They reduced the sauce with wine of and I could very mildly taste the residual of that, which is not my favorite, which means I don't do it when I make it myself. That said, I would absolutely order this again and strongly recommend it. Surprisingly, this is an RC shop, that means I got RC cola as opposed to cope with Pepsi. So two thumbs up there. I asked about gluten free things and they have gluten-free bread so they can make most of their sandwiches gluten free. They also have gluten-free entrees. My server was Matthew and he took a lot of time to explain the menu items to me. I would surely ask for him again. At this time, 3/25/2023, they don't have desserts because they're dessert. Maker retired, but expect them soon. So don't miss this place. It's worth a stop. Give it a try.
Enjoyed an overall great meal here. The dirty martini was stellar. I had the chicken fried chicken and my husband had the pot roast. Food was delicious though my mashed potatoes and gravy were cold. He said the pot roast was tasty but slightly bland. Upon arriving, there was no hostess so we had to find someone to inquire about a table. We were seated quickly despite how busy it was. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We would definitely come again! I think it's a hidden gem in Columbus.
We arrived at 11:00pm after a long flight from California and it was one of the few places we found open and that we felt relatively safe going in, there was several customers even at that time, 1 person working behind the counter and he did well taking care of everyone, he was friendly and attentive, I ordered the fish and chips which was decent, the decor and ambient is nice and inviting.
I can’t leave a bad review because I’ve been coming here for 7 years but it’s been a while and I do have to say it’s not as good as it used to be. The current cocktail menu is boring. Blueberry vodka & Lemonade? The food was just okay - four people ordered and no one hated or loved their meal. The monte cristo was served with packages of smuckers. There are lots of vegetarian options is you substitute soy crumbles but they’ve removed the vegan sandwich they used to have - that’s not a complaint if it was selling they would have kept it just an FYI. The service was great. Like I said it’s good, but if you’ve been over the years it’s just not great at the moment.
Nice bar and kitchen. We got their pot roast entry, and it was definitely enough for a lunch for two. It was also happy hours, so that any Ohio beer was half the price. Good place
Went here on Saturday night for some food and drinks. Server was very nice and attentive Donald. Thanks Donald! We had the patty melt and beef stroganoff. My boyfriend liked the patty melt, the stroganoff was edible but in fairness, I’m a chef so slightly hard to please. I’m writing this review overall to say the establishment smelled dirty and is in dire need of a deep cleaning and renovation.
