I brought in a very, very well used bike in to TomCat Bikes because... well it needed some love to say the least. I knew it was going to be a big job, but Tom the owner walked me through what he could do, and quoted me a very reasonable price so I said sure. A week later, I got a call saying that they found a fatal crack in the frame during the repair. I'm very sad to have lost the bike, but honestly couldn't be more grateful to TomCat Bikes for their thorough and excellent service. If you need a bike, a repair, or something else, and you come across TomCat Bikes, don't hesitate. Great shop.

I live in Santa cruz California. I recently purchased a vintage bike off of Craigslist Portland. The seller highly recomended Tomcat Bikes as someone who could pack and ship the bike for me. I gave Tom a call. He was friendly and professional. He knew all the right questions to ask. He quoted me what I considered a reasonable price. The bike was expertly packed, and shipped in a timely manner, with constant communication throughout the entire process. The bike arrived a few days later in perfect condition and also contained a bonus item, a very cool Tomcat Bikes tee shirt. This bike shop deserves your business. We were stuck with a couple of Rad Power E-bikes with problem brakes that wouldn’t be serviced by the other bike shops that Rad recommended. Tom, the owner/mechanic, took the bikes, diagnosed the issues, then recommended the fixes—he knows his bicycles. Through the process of getting the warranty service approved and some suggested improvements, he communicated every step using phone and email. We are now happy with our bikes and plan to have Tom keep them in top shape.

My sister and I bought electric assist bikes online, put them together ourselves... They were functional but needed some attention from a pro. Tom did a lot of tightening, fixed the shudder, brakes, you name it. He also discovered that my handle bars came bent, and I didn't know until he said something. He had a replacement in the shop on hand, made the turn around super quick. Great pricing too! Bikes feel so much more solid and stable. He's really busy for a reason! He knows bikes. Thanks TomCat

It's clear how much Tom cares about bikes; no matter how swank, basic, or obscure your ride may be, he'll treat you with respect. He gives no BS assessments of what you need done on your bike and quote a fair price for the work. Tomcat is my go to bike shop in town and I trust him with all my bikes.

I had Tom do an overhaul of my 30-year-old Giant hybrid, my trusty commuter bike since I bought it new. He also added a generator light. The other day I was riding home, after the smoke from the recent inversion and fires had cleared and the rain had stopped, and I realized this has been the most trouble-free summer my bike has had in years. Thanks to Tom for doing such a good job on it. Having a generator light is literally life-changing. I should’ve added one years ago. I appreciate his work.

What a fantastic small bike shop!! He charged me a very reasonable rate to do a task on a bike I didn't feel comfortable doing. He also sold me a great used crankset and new pedals all of which were in stock. He's incredibly knowledgeable and kind and meets people where they are no matter who they are. Worth any drive in the greater Portland area.
