Okay! I'm on my Pizza Hunting and reviews that will be in a few articles in the new year. So, I just left Montesini pizza in a small strip mall, and the pizza was just mmm okay! I figured, need another slice or two! So, I walked about a block to Tonys Famous Tomato Pies on Frankford Avenue in Mayfair, Philadelphia. Tonys has a new owner of this nostalgic corner bar that makes Tomato pies. My father use to go here back in the 50' 60' and take me and mom and sister here on Saturday nights. So, I sat down and old fond memories of this place made me smile. Donna the waitress who is very nice and made me feel at home asked me what would I like? And i said of course, a Tomato pie!!! After a few minutes my tomato pie is ready and the aroma of the sauce, oil, and crust filled the booth i was sitting at. The crust is perfect with a little bit of char that makes this pie perfect! I held a slice and didn't bend. It stood straight out. Then the cheese that is underneath the sauce is very lightly coating the pie. Not to much! The sauce is just enough sweetness and salt makes it unstoppable to eat. The small touch of oil drizzled on top adds so much flavor. The pie is so thin and delicious with an atmosphere that makes you feel at home! And home is a wonderful thing!
Very nice people I have always been greeted and shown amazing customer service , food is also pretty good , I love the cheesesteak egg rolls and it has to be one of the better thin crust pies around the area definitely worth trying if your looking for a new pizzeria in your neighborhoodDine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesDelivery: No
Ordered the provolone and tomatoes pie and was good. The wings that we ordered we're not fully cooked. This was our first time here as our neighbors recommend the tomatoe pies. I would return again. The owner was very friendly and the prices are reasonable
Been coming here since I was a kid, best tomato pie. Corner bar vibe in a good location. They just removed a bunch of old booths so you get some extra room and they added a digital jukebox. It's on the up and up I'd say. Check it out. Pretty good bar wings too.
Tasty local place with pizza, wings, sides and beverages. Parking is tricky. Family establishment in a bar atmosphere. Lookout for their GroupOn, it's a great deal!
I ordered through Uber eats and the food was disgusting I had a Raw cheeseburger the wings aren’t even cooked all the way . the pizza is burnt you can barely break it and the chicken tenders taste like fish I spent a lot of money and didn’t even eat any of it
Great Tomato Pie, friendly server and bartender. If I ever find myself in north Philly I'm getting more pie!
It's out of business. We wondered why we couldn't order online...why no phone numbers were in service...it's because they have clearly been shut down for a while despite how it looks on Google. C'mon, Google, do better.
Our go to place for the past 30+ years for good tomato pie! Nice thin, crispy crust...delicious sauce...very unique!
A very special place, been a long time since I was there but I hope to go back again. Was looking forward to having a pizza with sausage but they accidentally gave me the wrong one but it's ok.. the people there were really nice to me, some I haven't seen in ages. The service was great, good food but next time maybe I'll try a cheesesteak with fried onions and mozzarella
