It’s a nice Izakaya restaurant! However, the wait time of the dishes were longer than we expected. To start with people usually select a few skewers and then order more and more dishes, so to not waist your time I recommend you to order everything at once. I liked their skewers - vegetables wrapped in pork. Beef skewer was juicy in a good sauce. The chicken gizzards skewer was a bit tough for me. However, we really liked the restaurant, it's a cozy and good place.
Very local Japanese izakaya! It's like being in Japan. The food was delicious but limited, many popular items were sold out early so didn’t have many options. It would be great if we could have more different dishes! And fried tofu was my favorite.
Starting off with this is a very small restaurant. Don’t expect to come here with big parties or without reservations. The price here is on the expensive side, this was our most expensive food outing on our trip. That being said they have authentic and fusion style Japanese izakaya goods. Drinks are great and the atmosphere reminds me greatly of Japan. You’ll see lots of local Japanese people hang out, watch baseball and drink the night away. We tried almost everything on the menu and were wonderfully pleased even though we sat outside on a picnic able in some slight winds.
Yummy food and quick customer service! My friend had ordered when they got there because they had another reservation after us, so by the time we arrived the food had all came out. We had to remind our server of our waters, but other than that service was quick and timely. Can't wait to dine here again! Definitely recommend making a reservation as it seemed busy if you try to walk in.
Started off great. We made a reservation and was seated promptly once we got there. We were attended to and our order was taken about 10min in. There were only about 3 parties/tables filled inside. Our big orders came first out one after another first picture. We noticed that after about 45min of eating the same things, our other food hadn’t come out. So I asked for our check and to just cancel whatever order hadn’t come yet. I was told that it was already on the grill and I was given my check. So then we just felt forced to wait some more because we were already being charged for it. The order we were waiting for 2nd picture took almost another 30 minutes to come out. While we were waiting they offered to give us complimentary food. This made us more irritated because they can give us free food but couldn’t just comp the order which took an hour to come out. It was one stick of meat, peppers and tomatoes! On top of it.. the reasons we were being given we have a small grill…it’s cold outside… did not help at all. We paid and left.
Amazing customer service, mediocre food, wished that ability to split the bill was better accommodated. I told my waiter I wanted separate checks, then a waitress different person came back with a single check. To combat their stubbornness, my friend and I just placed 2 cards in, to which they split the check right in half. I thought the food was okay. It was tasty and portions were adequate to keep me content. The location is in a decent place to find parking and other shops like Luna Tea for dessert. This is a kind of place that's for fancy dinner if you're a nearby UH student without access to transportation. Great walking distance to other foodie options within this plaza.
Had a reservation, because I came here with large 13 people party for wedding rehearsal dinner. Loud and straightforward customer service : Their fried foods were all delicious. The skewers take more time to cook and have limited quantities, so try a bunch! My faves were the US wagyu and scallop skewers.
My experience at Tori Ton was awesome and very satisfying! The food seems like very “made to order” because it tasted really really fresh! The flavors were very balanced, the food was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It’s my favorite type of restaurant because it’s not just a “hype” restaurant, is very local and I felt in Japan, which I haven’t had an opportunity to visit yet but I bet the best food places there would tastes like that! The staff was very friendly and respectful! We ordered many small plates, which I LOVE doing because you get to try different dishes without waste and for a very easonable price. What a great experience! Thank you very very much for your service and keep up the awesome work! I forgot to take pictures of some dishes but there are the deep fried oysters, The cheese mochi and the baby scallops.
This place was awesome so make reservations or you might not get in. The service was superb as all the staff were friendly. The food was terrific and who could go wrong with pitchers of beer! I'll be back here again!
Nice little Japanese restaurant with tasty food, you’ll need to make a reservation to come though. The skewers were well seasoned and had a nice Smokey flavor; you get the option of sauce or salt on some of the skewers. The eel kamamsehi tasted good and was topped with ikura, only thing is it takes awhile to make. So if you want any of the kamameshi make sure to put in the order when you first.
