Transcend Recovery Community - New York home

After being in a wilderness program in North Carolina for three months the idea of coming to New York city seemed daunting. I didn't know what to expect, but Transcend did an outstanding job of making me feel immediately comfortable. One thing that sticks out is how much the Transcend staff cares. They helped me learn to navigate the city while staff took me to the gym, appointments, and anywhere else I needed to go. I really appreciated a group so clearly dedicated to helping me feel safe and at home. This is just one aspect of the high level of care Transcend provides; The degree of empathy and understanding I received while living there is one that I will always remember, and the support provided to me played a big role in the personal growth I experienced while I was there. This all being beside the fact that there is an incredible chef who prepares delicious nightly meals. Soon after I left Transcend I started college and got my own apartment. I have to give Transcend credit for giving me the confidence to move forward and achieve my life goals.Transcend isn't just a place for recovery, but a community; Even after leaving the house they told me I was always welcome to come back, and I did. I ended up working for Transcend where I found an even greater sense of community. I really don't have all the words to express my gratitude for this place but I know it was a part of my life that I will never forget because I simply became a better person after walking through their doors.
