Trout Stalkers - Outfitter and Fly Shop

On the plus side the rental of the waders and the raft were great. The store was very accommodating with the reservation when we had bad weather. I had to take 2 stars bc I did not find that the employees were well informed about the river conditions. On our first day floating we put ourselves in the hands on Nick and he sent us to drop in the palisades. We did not see a single other fisherman on a clear day and caught 2 fish. The following 5 days we went to the upper and lower parts of the river which had many guides and waders and caught a ton. He wasted a full day with either uninformed or careless advice. I understand spring is not the best fishing but we relied on his guidance and he clearly had no idea where the guides were going. Another employee, Jess forbid us on taking their boat to the upper portion of the river bc she did not think we could handle the rowing. We ended up going anyway and it was very easy and the best fishing. We were in Ennis for a week and each day a different employee was working. I would say if you need a boat go here but seek advice elsewhere.

After leaving the distillery, I continue looking to add to my sticker collection and I walk across the street to the next business open. This is when I enter the Fly Shop and immediately see a display of about twenty stickers, all of which are different versions of Trout Stalkers logo. I choose two, pay for them and then look through the store.

Loved chatting with the staff about my favorite fishing technique- mousing. Can’t wait to take lunge pics with the big browns we’ll catch in the Mad.

Fantastic shop with kind people and an exceptional shop dog. Definitely worth the stop.
