The food at true grits is jail food at it best. Today I ate the food and they were serving it was un cooked chicken and corn dogs on a Sunday. The lack of variety and flavor disheartens my mood. Every time I renter true grits, I know they have nothing to offer besides their pizza. But, they didn’t even pizza today and that’s I knew I need ti make this review because without their pizza their food is trash. The rice was crunchy and over all the meal was very nasty. I honestly did not pay 2,000 dollars for this. Please you guys need to change the menu and make the food more enjoyable because this is astonishingly upsetting.
It's popular among students to hate on this place, but I find that most of the complaints are about the chicken or fish or whatever meat option is at the main bar. As a vegetarian, between the Halal section, the "Rooted" counter, the salad/cold pasta bar, and the pizza/pasta bar that sometimes has really good spinach pizza, I consistently find or make gems I haven't tried before. The dessert bar is great, too -- my non-vegetarian friends and I all agree that the rainbow chocolate chip cookies always hit. But I wish they had fruits other than cantaloupe and honeydew out more often since I am allergic to those. Vegetarian options: Good stuff
Closed dinning hall and market for late night with no warning. You guys should really be more mindful of the fact students depend on this food.
The selection is minimal. The Asian beef is not good. It's very salty, just soy sauce. Good Asian food uses better sauce. I don't eat dairy, so I didn't try the pizza. Several soda syrups were out at the machine. Very disappointed. Today is 11-11-22 and I am updating my post. The food selection has improved. Vegetarian options: They always have vegetarian options, which I like. There's a hot dood location and cold food location at the salad bar. Wheelchair accessibility: There are two entrances. The one closest to Hiltop Circle facing the street is the door to use.
The food was pretty good, and there was a decently wide selection for dinner! Might get old in 15 weeks, we’ll see.
The food on campus is usually very good. Service is very good you serve your self or terrible you serve your self . The atmosphere is not the kind of atmosphere I prefer.Food: 4/5
Food rarely has flavor and most staff are extremely rude. They also give you small portions as if it isn't supposed to be served buffet style. If you want to get full be prepared to have to get up 3-4 more times. Food is sometimes not even cooked all the way through. The only reason you should eat here is if you're trying to gain weight and need to eat a minimum amount of calories. It's really not even worth the meal swipe. If you can't catch commons, admin, or Starbucks/chick at meal periods, this is your only option. The only saving grace is the late-night meal period here. Even that is hit or miss with the chicken tenders. Sometimes they're all breading. I avoid coming here at all costs unless i want candy from the retriever market/ outtakes.
Coming from South Asia, it's obvious to find the food a bit on the blander side. But, the variety/selection and the atmosphere make up for it.Food: 3/5
Staff here are usually VERY rude and disrespectful with little patience. Food is standard for college food, subpar but sometimes decent staff is just horrible
Umbc students are tired of having the same food for years and bad experience for students who have halal food as there is only one option for it, while there are hundreds of Muslim students on campus.Food: 1/5
