We dropped in here randomly on a Friday afternoon and were warmly greeted, seated and served very quickly. Chili, corn bread, and crispy ribs were phenomenal. The pulled pork sandwich forget the name right now was good too. Really nice selection of four homemade bbq sauces to choose from. Highly recommend!
We ordered for take out. I've been wanting to check this place out and finally got to try it. My order was The Barnyard #1 which is supposed to be 1/4 rack rib, 2 chicken thigh, hot link and curly fries ... but my order is missing a chicken thigh and instead of curly fries, it is just a normal fries. the food is okay, I just wish they follow through with what's on their menu.
We had fantastic service from our waitress for an early dinner. The pulled pork was perfectly moist and delicious, and the side dishes appeared to be freshly made as they were great too. Also enjoyed the chili and the fried pickles. The interior is very clean and has a perfect theme. They offer a 10% military discount. But even before that was applied, I was surprised that the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. Every table has four different kinds of delicious BBQ sauce. Good variety on the menu, and they have a special Mexican menu on Tuesdays. This is a fantastic place.
Love this place! Brisket was delicious and I definitely recommend the pulled pork with bacon bark. The sauce variety is pretty stellar too. I like the beans and mac & cheese for sides. Then wash it down with iced tea or a beer.
Who would think that you could find some of the best barbecue in North America in Anchorage or Indian, Ak ? But you can. We've sampled barbecue all over the Lower 48 and both the Turnagain Arm locations are among our top 5 favorites. Brisket, chicken, or ribs.... all great! Whether the Anchorage or Indian Location... this place rocks!
The brisket was a very tough and difficult to cut with a knife what they called fries tasted of old grease. The beef brisket is okay but unlike True BBQ the sauce is not mixed in with the beef you have to add it. There barbecue sauce is lack originality and they have no Smoky flavor and they are too thin the appear watery. Service is very good price is high for the amount of food that you get
Outstanding bbq. Don't miss it driving from or to Anchorage towards the southeast. St Louis style ribs were perfect. Deep rub flavoring. Potato salad was the best ever from a rib joint, deli, etc. Coleslaw is rather dry although ingredients were fresh. Take out service was very timely. Extra bbq sauce was a bit thin.
We ordered the crispy ribs, cup of chili, bore tide sandwich. This was a huge lunch! First the appetizer, the crispy ribs were fried and topped with a maple soy glaze and green onions. 3 or 4 ribs was delicious and cooked perfectly, the smoke was not overpowering and fall off the bone. We also had a cup of pit master chili. No beans, all meat and cooked fresh daily. These two items is plenty for a lunch. Then the bore tide sandwich showed up. Big sandwich, served with tasty slaw on the side. The bore tide has a plank of bacon on top of the pile of pulled pork. One of the popular picks and with the choices of sauces to go with that make a lunch fit for a king. Or queen. Definitely worth a stop by if you have the time. Plenty to choose from on their menu.
In addition to decent BBQ, they grow their own greens all year round. My fav is their hearty salad with sliced brisket added on top. However, multiple times now, they've run out. Weird to rate and downgrade a BBQ place on salad availability, but I wish they would do a better job keeping their full menu in stock.
Great fast and friendly service gets the 4 stars. 3 stars for the small portion/price, and dry small ribs. Smokey beans ok but the potato salad was really good. The brisket taste good but was honestly closer to a brisket soup. Hoping for better when you spend $20+ for a plate.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
