This listing isn't the Medical Center. It's a community care center with limited facilities CBOC. Call first. The genuine VAMC is about 5 miles distant from this place.
Great staff from top to bottom. Much better run than outside The VA. Did teleconferencing private video. Hats off the Dr Zapater, Pedro docs assistant teleconferencing director.Nurse Mary, EMT Mike, Tom and Gerry, and Police Paris and Samuel others who followed up Mike B. You all rock and roll. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays. Jesus cares say your prayers Amen.
Nice location. From my understanding this is a newer location. I had to do some labs. Got in and out very quick so I was pleased about that. Overall looks nice. Parking is a bit wonky like most va’s.
A very modern, clean and professionally staffed facility. Outstanding in every single way. They always treat me right there. Kep up the good work!
I'm a veteran. I go for blood work. They used to have the best coffee I've ever tasted. They would give u cookies after u give blood. It made me feel special. Small talk with the people u encounter for the moments ur there. I miss that a lot! No more since the pandemic. The volunteers are so nice & very helpful. Keep up the good work! Thanks for your service ladies & gentleman! I wish those days would come back again.
Cancelled appointments. No in person appointments. I record my video appointments so I can remember what they say, but a couple times I record the video appointment and no one comes on. I call the office and they get me in touch with my provider via phone and she makes it sound like it’s my fault. Call their number from the voicemail and letter when they canceled on me, and they transfer me to VA main hospital, VA main transfers me back and this clinic hangs up on me. Multiple times. Can’t reschedule my appointment. Not worth it. I’ll figure something else even though I don’t work right now. Call Concerned Veterans for America CVA to let an independent, non-government group, know if this has been happening to you too. It’s a new location, that is nice. The volunteers here are the stars. Not all is bad.
The hours of operation are a mess. The clinic recently changed to 0700-1800, Monday through Friday, and 0730-1600 on Saturday. HOWEVER, the lab closes at 1530 and imaging closes at 1545. So if you're advised to fast for your labs, and your appointment is after 15:30, either get in early or do it the day before. The VA website for this clinic has their old hours, which were only until 1600, but did not and does not list separate hours for different clinic functions. The care is pretty standard GP-level stuff. They're good about referrals and are easy to reach by phone. I do not recommend mental health services at this location. The social workers are pretty good, but the psychiatrist needed to retire long ago. Bottom line: confirm hours several times before you show up and go to the main hospital at Pecos and CC215 for mental health services. This location does not have a pharmacy.
When you call to make an appt sometimes they can be so rude, I had a rude guy who was laughing, respond with smart remarks, telling me it’s my fault on Monday around 230pm. They don’t know what a person health issues are or what we are going through. The manager of the call center don’t even take the time out to call you back to see what the problem was.
There are some great things about this office including their peer services, therapists, the volunteers, and the cops/security. The facility is clean and quiet. However, everyone who is an administrative worker here should be ashamed of either themselves, their staff, or their co-workers. If you have a mental illness and are hoping for sensitive and kind treatment, I promise you won’t receive it from the enrollment office. The enrollment administrative staff and their direct supervisor will be short with you, belittle you, judge you, and may even make impolite statements about your income. If you’re going to enroll, try the main hospital, THEN use the services at this location. They may even lose or misrepresent your paperwork. If you have thick skin then this may not be an issue for you, but if you’re like me and this was a last ditch effort to get mental health services, then try elsewhere first.
hope the accountability act kicks in real quick with this place. union workers are proven not compatible with veterans. this place is proof. record everything they say. they like to accuse rather than diagnosis . front desk staff treats u like second hand citizens, such as social security loafers. doctors are more employee related than medical related as finding any conditions they may result the va spending more time and money. had a doctor almost 8 years as never recommended me therapy in this clinic.. P.S MY DOCTOR NEEDS TO GO.....
