My 95 year old mom died at the VNSNY Haven Hospice in May 2017. Had it not been for the hospice team - each and every one of them - her death would have been unbearable for both her and me. The VNSNY team were extraordinary. They attended to me and my family as actively as attending to my mom. From the moment of our arrival to the hours after her death, we were surrounded by the most tender, loving, caring, skilled, and experts hands in the end of life care. We were handled delicately and respectfully and compassionately. They maintain a quiet and tranquil environment. They help with confronting, understanding, handling and accepting death. They teach you ways to approach death. They prepare you for letting go and honoring your loved one's final days. I went in feeling exhausted by the time we arrived at Haven Hospice - and although I was still exhausted at the following late nights, overnights, long vigils, I was at peace with her dying. The VNSNY are a 5-star best-in-the field hospice provider.

When we were first told that our father had a few days to live, we were in complete state of shock. Though he had 2 previous battles with Lymphoma, we thought he was going to bounce back like he did the first two times. Our father was being treated at Sloan Kettering when the doctors told us that there's nothing else they can do and that we should be looking into finding a Hospice facility. So we did and found VSN of NY Hospice and Palliative Care inside Bellevue Hospital (not part of Bellevue Hospital). We read dozens of reviews that were all negative but realized that those review were in regards to VNS Home Care, so after speaking with the social worker and a nurse who had worked at VNS at Sloan Kettering, we chose VNS of NY in Bellevue Hospital. And By far, it was the best decision we'd made. Our Dad didn't last 24 hours at this facility but while there the Staff was amazing. Very professional, caring and informative (specially the night staff). The social worker was extremely knowledgeable and super caring. Everyone we came in contact with was so caring, helpful and concerned. Thank you to all of you who made Father’s passing easier to bear.
