Unique and amazing fitness studio! Workouts are always awesome whether you chose to do the RIP side where you work with an instructor in a small class setting with your personal punching bag, or the RIDE side where you cycle and work your core. The RIP class is not just hitting the punching bag but many other exercises that will make you feeling great!! Music is always awesome some of the instructors will even let you chose music sometimes :- and I haven't had a bad instructors yet, they are all great and have their own unique ways, still keeping the workout intensity the same. The instructors really get you into the workout and hold you accountable if you chose. They keep in mind the level you are at too which I appreciate. One of the best parts of the workout is you do the best you can and maybe a little more and that's okay. I started off able to do about half of the activities and now can do a lot more by sticking with it.. RIDE which is the cycle part is also an amazing workout, you not only do the cycling part, you also do many arm and core activities associated with the simple 3 boxing moves with small weights if you chose. The lighting in both classes goes with the music and it's got to be some of the coolest LED light shows I've seen. The studio is always VERY clean and has many staff members ready to help you. One of the things I love is when you get out of your class the staff members are greeting you with a nice aromatic wet towel for your cool-down. Overall this place is so professional you may miss out on the fact that this isn't a large franchise but a local Houston business owned by people right in the neighborhood. This is something I love about this place, locally owned and operated yet so organized that you think it's a big corporate place. They even have charging ports in the lockers!! Their showers are also very private, and so are their bathrooms. You ever go to a gym and you have to walk through the locker rooms to get to the toilets? Not here, you have private toilets, and then the locker room and showers. Great place to go for an excellent workout, I recommend trying it out for a minimum of 2 weeks because it'll then let you see and appreciate all it's got to offer and you can make up your mind from there. I know I've noticed a change in my body within that initial 2 week time period. Thanks Vortex for the great positive environment and the no-pressure style of luxury studio unlike any other in Houston. Oh and you got to get one of their delicious shakes, just ask at the front desk and they'll make you one, one of the best shakes I've had in Houston! It's right next to Panera Bread on W. Grey and they have plenty of parking behind the building where the main entrance is picture shown.
Today, I wanted to try something different from my normal workouts and also to see my friend. The front staff welcomed me in and gave me a quick intro on where everything is located. Another staff helped me on the bike and taught me how to use it. Also, lots of parking spots so that's cool. For the first five minutes, I had deep regrets. Like I should have taken the boxing class instead because that's way easier, but I didn't know how to get off the bike, so I stayed on. The class was upbeat and fun despite not being able to keep up. I like the music choices and watching everyone else get into it while I sat there out of breath. Then we did stretches towards the end of the class. Got off it and my legs were complete jello. I almost fell over, but did not die. I liked the cool scented towels after the class and the shower amenities. % would do again. Take Liz's class. She cool.
Trey is an excellent coach! He put together a special mix to celebrate Tupac's legacy and it was on fire! High energy combined with a wealth of knowledge make him a great trainer. If you're looking for a killer workout, come here.
Vortex is beyond amazing! It’s become my new favorite place to work out! I love that the spinning classes are very welcoming to beginners and experts! Everyone is so welcoming and eager to make your experience to be phenomenal! The instructors are very motivating and encouraging! The equipment is new, the lighting is definitely a huge part of the experience and the music! The amenities are top notch, you have everything you need! You can shower after class they have extra towels, shampoo, hair dryer ect! Very modern super clean! So much parking in the back! The aromatherapy cold towel at the end of each class is truly appreciate it! I look forward to that! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND VORTEX!!!! Ps. The juice bar it’s really good the banana and strawberry smoothie is my fave!
I love going to Vortex! I haven't tried out the boxing class, but I have been to a number of spin classes with different instructors and they are always awesome. The lighting and music always helps me want to push myself that extra bit to get in a great workout. Post work-outs are also lovely with a cool towel offered right as you walk out and A LOT of showers/space in the locker rooms to get ready for the rest of your day assuming you like to get your workout done in the morning before heading off to work. They even have a few blow dryers and various self-care products available for your use in case you forgot to pack something in your gym bag. The studio is always super clean, not as stinky as other spin rooms I've been in, and the staff is very friendly.
I love Vortex. The place is always clean, parking is easy, and the people are friendly. Like the rest of the reviewers here, I also love the towels that they give out after the workout. : I am going to the boxing class and I must say that the instructors are all wonderful. I work night shift so on my days off, I try to go to the early morning classes so I will be encouraged to wake up early. Going to this studio is a great way to start my day. -Jessica
This is probably one of the best spin gyms I have been to. They also have a boxing class called “RIP” which plays AMAZing music too, but since I’m pregnant, I haven’t gone yet. Other spin gyms I have been to are crowded, but this one has plenty of space to move around! I also like to feel like I’m part of a family when going to work out, and they do a really good job about getting to know their clients! Their spin classes are so fun, and I get an amazing work out while feeling like I’m at the club. Liz is the instructor I go to, and she is just the best! But everyone there is great. Raphael and the staff are so friendly! Also, there is usually fresh fruit served after each class, it’s a perfect end to a tough but fun work out. Actually, my favorite part is the cold scented face towel they give you after each class! I’m 6.5 months pregnant and I’ve been going since I was 10 weeks, and everyone is so accommodating and encouraging about it. Also the bathrooms are ridiculously nice. You don’t need to being any of your favorite products because they are already in the bathroom are fully stocked down to face wash, lotions, deodorant, blow dryers, hair ties, and hair spray! I highly recommend the Vortex with no hesitation! Can’t beat the prices either!
I tried Vortex through class pass. Best decision ever. I have enjoyed every class I have been to. The music is on point every time I have gone, the lighting is awesome, and the staff and instructors are so engaging. I recommend Vortext to everyone and anyone! Update: I have been going to vortex for almost a year now. I have had the most amazing experience with the staff and with all of the instructors. It has been amazing to see how the team has grown and how so many great people have gravitated to joining the family. Vortex is perfect for every level and you will never regret showing up!
Clean facility, welcoming staff, understanding instructors and reasonable deals make Vortex a great studio. I’ve tried many indoor cycling classes in town and Vortex has been my favorite since I started early this year. I’ve always wanted to like spinning but the atmosphere in other studios just didn’t make me feel like I belong. Thank you Vortex for opening your doors and accommodating all levels within all your classes
We have been going to Vortex for a few months, and really enjoy the "rip" and "ride" workouts. The staff is very friendly and professional, and the facility is first-rate. The athletes who teach each class do a great job of motivating everyone - which means you always get in a good workout.
