We decided to go to this small diner for dinner based on good reviews on google & yelp. It turns out to be a great disappointment. There’s only one girl who did everything from handling payment to making dishes. We ordered a sloppy rice and a veggie curry. Sloppy rice is really sloppy, basically minced meat in pasta sauce, four tiny sausages, and an egg. I feel most of my meals on international flights are better... veggie curry is even worse. We saw the girl taking out a bag of frozen vegetable and poured it into a source pan with water and curry powder... now I really regret that I didn’t buy a 5-buck sandwich from a nearby abc convenience store. I don’t know how others gave 4/5 stars. Maybe the diner has changed over the years. Maybe breakfast / burgers are better. But definitely avoid their plates.
Quaint little shop tucked away in an alleyway, managed by a single chef. Serves fresh hot food at extraordinarily fair and cheap prices. $5 for two eggs, spam, rice and sausage is an amazing steal compared to the stuff around Waikiki. The owner is also very kind, letting you know how much you'll need to wait as there's only one chef and one kitchen. He also charged us $1 less when we asked for only one egg, making sure the prices were consistent. Really great with all kinds of condiments to compliment your breakfast
!!!Cash Only!!! Just to start, I went thru the reviews, to see if it is CASH ONLY, and I can confirm it is, but none of the other reviews mention this. Miles cooked my breakfast, and I actually ate there. The atmosphere is as you would expect, basically a kitchen with a counter, and a small area to wait / eat. If you are driving here, don't expect to find parking close by, but definitely don't let that deter, you it's Waikiki, not a big deal to go for a little walk. My meal was $5, I can tell you getting a meal for $5, much less a good meal, in Waikiki is un heard of. I have posted a picture of the current menu, so you can see the current prices. Also Miles was about to make a new pot of coffee, so instead of just throwing out what was left in the pot, he gave me a free cup of coffee as well. Highly recommend this place!
Love this little place. The menu is limited however, the food is excellent and reasonably priced. I went a few times for din we during my visit. The only con is that it's a bit dirty. It has that hole in the wall feeling but the hole has been there for a while.
When most places are closed, had to try this place. Not bad! Love how my food was freshly made!
My son and I ordered breakfast sandwiches and the ONLY issue was that we waited 15 minutes when there were only two customers ahead of us. Our sandwiches were great! Both the bagel and English muffin were toasted to perfection and the egg was cooked perfectly... just slightly oozing with creamy goodness. Bacon was a bit fatty but had a nice smoky flavour. Better price and fresher than Starbucks! Worth a try...
Very friendly staff. Fast service, quality food. Will make your breakfast sandwich just the way you like it. Pancakes very good. Food is higher quality than Denny’s or Zippy’s. Their Curry is very good. My favorite place. I visit them often after I’ve come off night shift. Thank you for being open during this tough time.
Simple menu, good flavours and cheap! We got takeout from here a couple times - the serving sizes are good for the price and the flavours are decent. We didn't have to wait long as others have said. Good place to balance out your vacation food budget.
Looking for a solid affordable breakfast and you don’t care about pageantry, give this a try, the women on the grill reminded me of the classic old school diner waitress working very hard for her money, but friendly and genuine to all, like she had just invited you into her home. For 5 dollars I got a great 2 eggs, spam, sausage, and rice breakfast which was simple but all perfectly cooked. I added two more eggs and a giant scoop of extra rice for 3 more dollars and a coffee for a buck and I had a meal of champions that’s great for bigger appetites, and suitable for charing if you’re looking to stretch your funds a bit farther. The lounge eating area behind the kitchen reminded us of Bali as it was basically some tables in a parking lot, but all in all, it should be worth a visit if you wanted to save some cash.
We had 3 English muffin breakfast sandwiches delicious!, orange juice for $15. The Marriott we stayed charges $25 for buffet per person, no thanks. Highly recommend Beachside kitchen! Great food and you can eat in a comfy, breezy side spot next to the place.
