When my mom recently fell in her bedroom at 2 AM. The managers Glen and Lori came to her rescue immediately and were very kind and reassuring . I am so glad she is there!
As a manager for this community I am predictably biased about Walnut Grove. Having been in the retirement living industry for almost 5 years, my husband and I have seen many other communities, nothing as beautiful as this! We moved to Omaha in January 2014 and have fallen in love with Walnut Grove Retirement and our residents. We are a family in every sense of the word!
SPREAD THEIR SHAME!!!!!!!!!! Reprehensible company. Recently Omaha, NE suffered major, catastrophic flooding which damaged many people's homes, cars, belongings - some lost everything. An employee of this company who has been absolutely dedicated, and is adored by the residents who call Walnut Grove home for many years was affected by this flooding. As many kind-hearted souls are wont to do, a resident found out by word of mouth that one of the employees for whom he cares for and appreciates greatly was one of the victims of the flooding. In a wonderful gesture of kindness and human compassion he offered this employee some financial assistance. He offered this assistance of his own volition and was not coerced or threatened or otherwise intimidated into giving this money. The employee graciously declined the money the offer multiple times over, not only out of modesty, but out of recognition that this could be seen as a favor or other wise seen negatively. The resident continued to insist as he truly and adamantly wanted to offer this to someone he cared for and was, in his own opinion, able to offer this to no ill effect to himself. He spoke with management at Walnut Grove insisting this was his own choice and decision and that he wanted to do this. When the employee finally acquiesced and accepted the money the employee was promptly fired and no consideration was given to the fact that the resident himself insisted in person and in sound mind and body that he wanted to this for this employee who has given some much of their time and love to the company and for genuinely loving to be there for the residents under the employee's care. It is reprehensible that an act of human kindness results in a punishment of the employee to whom the gift was intended. The resident has repeatedly pleaded with the management that this is not a just decision on their part and that he did this of his own volition. Not only did this employee dedicate their time to this company and give their all, the employee also cares for an elderly parent at home and two kids under 18. The employee only accepted the offer after the resident continued to insist, and now due to a simple act of human kindness this callous company has decided to fire the employee rather than to give a fair and balanced analysis of the situation and facts involved. The employee even paid the money back to the resident promptly and in full after allegations of impropriety were raised. On the off chance that you or someone you know has a loved one who at one point in their life ends up in a retirement community, retirement home, or otherwise - you too may want to have them live somewhere where the staff truly care about and love their residents then I would think twice about having them live somewhere the company. Every situation requires a per-basis analysis and resolution. This is just disgusting. Isn't one of the teachings of the Christ these persons and companies purport to idolize that of caring and generosity for your neighbor? How is firing people who are in a time of need in anyway consistent with the teachings of their Christ?
Walnut Grove Retirement Resort is an excellent facility providing wonderful services and a great environment for active seniors. It's super clean and so well cared for and the staff are caring dedicated professionals. If you are thinking of downsizing I would highly recommend you take a look at Walnut Grove.
We love it here! Staff and residents really care about each other making this a real family. Food is great and activities are fun if you care to join in, if not, that’s okay, too!
I visited my mom there and was so pleased that she is able to be in such a lovely place. It's very bright and inviting for all.
Walnut Grave is more like it.
