Wayne County Register of Deeds

I went in this office to file a POA. It was of my uncle who is very frail. When he signed the document he did not press hard enough on the paper for it to leave an impression on the back of the page so they told me I needed to have an original copy. I told them it was original. They went in the back to get the registrar and she more or less accused me of lying about it not being a copy and added that the notary notarized a document with a copied signature. Not only that but she kept saying it. I was HIGHLY insulted!! HOW DARE SHE?? My uncle was in the car and I invited her to go to the vehicle to confirm he signed the document so we can resolve the issue, which she should have done if she thought there was some fraud involved and her true interest was in protecting his rights, but she refused. I work with legal documents often so I would know better than to go and try to do something ILLEGAL as file a document that was not original or to get a pre-signed paper notarized. Then she kept my original stating that she wanted to have it scanned and once it was scanned she would mail it to me. What kind of registrar's office does this? I am not stupid either. They scan the document on the printer and give you your original back with the stamp on it and they have their copy microfiched. But I am supposing she is going to verify the document. Two witnesses saw him sign the documents in front of the notary so I hope she feels like a complete idiot when she finds that out. I guess I won't get my due apology though. I can't tell you how peeved this made me to have my integrity attacked!! I thought this was UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCOOTH and if I did not HAVE to go in there to do business I would never step foot in that place again. I understand she had a civic duty to serve the public in an ethical and responsible manner so if she thought something was fishy and I was able to prove it otherwise I don't understand why she didn't check it out. Unless she thought I was going to do something to her once we got outside, which is even more insulting. Let me stop here. I have another paper to file and I don't even want to go back there. It's crazy
